I have been reading about the Opus X PerfecXion for a while now and I am considering a purchase of 1 or 2 sticks. Everywhere I look they are going for well above the MSRP of $14.00, I have seen them as high as $36.00.

Needless to say, I am not interested in doling out 2X the MSRP, although living here in California where tax on cigars is through the roof, I don't expect to pay less than $20 for it.

That said, if any of you have smoked them can you please answer the following questions:

1) How much did you pay for it?

2) Was it worth it?

3) Can you sum up your experience in a couple of words?

4) Is there an online source that you would recommend for acquiring 1 or 2?

Thanks in advance.

1) How much did you pay for it? The price I could find them at

2) Was it worth it? To me...but is it worth it to you?

3) Can you sum up your experience in a couple of words? Finding them: witch hunt ===> Smoking them: Not mind-blowing

4) Is there an online source that you would recommend for acquiring 1 or 2? This will answer itself. :D

Thanks in advance.
Hope that helps

36.00 whoa. Buddy, all I have to say: enjoy the finer points in life from the islands. montecristo A ($35) or #2 ($14) or Cohiba Siglo VI ($28)

My local Tinderbox sells the Opus at MSRP. If you are interested in doing a trade, I can see if they have any of the No 2.

Why don't I just send you a couple at MSRP + shipping and let you find out for yourself. I will tell you that when these get about 5 years on them they are simply rediculous IMHO. This is just something you will have to determine by smoking them. Then maybe you can review this fine stick for us here :).

I think Phil summed it up best when this question (well, one very similar) was asked a couple weeks back:

I find it really depend on the time and environment when it comes to Opus. For example, 4:57 EST is a horrible time for Opus while 4:57 CST is ideal. 7:30-7:56 AM is never optimal regardless of time zone. Also, as I said, setting really matters. Some people can enjoy a smoke wherever but the process by which Opus are rolled (far too complicated to go into here) really forces you into smoking them only in certain situations to maximize enjoyment. For example smoking one on a NYC Subway car would be good, as long as you are on the upper east side and nowhere else. On the other hand smoking one on your porch (between 7:30 and 7:56 AM) is likely to result in immediate paralysis. Basically when you smoke Opus you are putting your life on the line.

Why don't you just send them to me instead and I will mail you a box of stale cookies that were once delicious?

If that is what you are paying for those cigars, you are getting hosed my friend. Ironic that you are admonishing him for paying too much, don't you think?

Will you send your end first :sign: :).

They're just cigars. Albeit, a good cigar, but not worth the aggravation that Fuente puts folks through. I believe Lew Rothman when he says, "A cigar is only as rare as the manufacturer wants them to be". I used to chase these things. It was a damn obsession. No more. There are far better cigars available with fewer hoops to jump through to attain them. Of course, that's easy for me to say because I've smoked my share, but if I never smoked another, I wouldn't feel deprived. Right now, if you spend $100 at Serious cigars, they'll sell you a couple for close to MSRP.

Doc.

No way! I have been here longer and I probably have more posts. You send first or no cookies.

I see it is because I don't chat :). Oh nevermind this isn't a chat issue, LOL.

Jim,

Rod has respectfully asked us to refrain from the chat comments. If you wish to take a shot at the chatroom, I suggest you come do it directly, and keep this nonsense off the boards.

PS. I am in no way affiliated with Insight.

I don't even understand what that means. Are you saying my post count is high because I chat a lot? Are you saying you want to chat about the cookies? They were good cookies...

You guys are cracking me up. I'll say this for the Opus: If you can find it at MSRP, I think it's worth trying one. Good smoke but the inflated prices are redic.

It was a joke guys thus the :). I can understand how it might be mistaken as a jab, but it wasn't.

I am sure they are/where great cookies and I am indeed contemplating taking them off your hands :).

Jim: Some of them have macadamia nuts as an fyi and some have Reese's (tm) penut butter cups involved. Basically my point is if you have an allergy to peanuts or macadamia nuts you should have your epi pen handy first.

The only allergy I have requires a dose of Naloxone, so no worries there.
