Pass humidity / baggies

Don't remember seeing this question being asked, and I'm too lazy to go searching for it right now so here goes.

When a pass is put together, and cigars are placed in those 8x2 bags and sealed, how is the humidity regulated? I only ask because I was under the impression the seal was air tight.

Good question, as I have wondered this too...can't wait for a response!

You might try searching for something like "box pass humidification", because I read a few days ago about (moki, i think?) someone hosting a box pass and employing a quite cool humi. system with it.

I believe those ziploc/baggies are air tight but still allow moisture to go in and out if I'm not mistaken. Some people like to use the Fuente Humidipaks

Right about the Fuente packs, but I mean for pass purposes with the 2x8 bags. I don't think anyone would pick up a couple hundred fuente bags for a pass

Your referring to the individual baggies? I think you only need 1 humidipak. LIke put all the bagged cigars in the tupperware. Then throw in a humidipak, and things should be good

I use those on my un-cello'd sticks in a pass to protect the cigars, not necessarily for humidity control.

Let me rephrase

The pass box is sealed. There is one tuppedor inside the box with a scrotum-type sack of beads to keep humidity, and 30 sticks, each in their own individual zip lock 2"x8" baggies. The baggies are sealed. To my knowledge, these baggies once sealed are airtight. At least that is what I found on one of the bag websites.

SO...

If their airtight, how is humidity controlled?

I think that seizure is correct on this.

The larger container should contain some type of humi device.. get a few of the disposable gels like the ones sold at JRs or CI or just a mini humi. You should be getting them back, so it's not a big deal.

The baggies are not completely air tight. They will allow moisture in and out.

If you do a large box pass the best and safest way is to enclose all the smokes in some type of tupperware. Ziplock bags, although fairly aritight, do allow some exchange of air. To do it right you should place all smokes in individual bags or the cello that they come in and place all of them in a tupperware with a humidity source (gell, beads etc.). As some have already said, all of the packing supplies you use will come back.
