As hard as it is to get to these lines I'm not about to hook em up and test. I'm putting in a new Kitchen faucet and the copper connect lines from the faucet are long and short. It so obvious that one's for hot and ones for cold. Its so obvious that they don't even include it in the instructions. I called Moens 800 number and got a recording saying my wait time was 1 hour and 11 minutes. :0

Is the long copper line coming from the faucet hot or cold?

PS - if I get the long line figured out I'm pretty sure I can figure out the other one. ;) :D

Now Kenny you know the kind of crap you'll get with that question ;)

Which faucet did you buy?

Not as much crap as I'm gonna get if this faucet isn't installed by the time the Mrs gets home. LOL!

Nothing fancy... its a single lever.... Moen #87480. I tried finding info on their web site but just like their instructions I found nada.

Long = Hot/Caliente

Good luck take Momma out for dinner!

Put your lips on one or the other and blow opening and closing the valve.

Damn, that would have worked BEFORE I bolted that sucker to the sink. No way in hell I can squeeze my lard azz under there past the garbage disposal at this point. OK, I saw some say long pipe hot..... one more confirmation on long pipe is hot and thats the way it will go. If its wrong I'll swear up and down that the manufacturer screwed up big time and built the hot and cold backwards. ;)

I love what item appears first in the "helpful tools" section. Looks like Mysterea wrote it. :sign:

There are only 4 rules in plumbing

1. Hot is on the left
2. Cold is on the right
3. Shit does NOT flow uphill
4. Never chew your fingernails.

LOL..... we have water. I won't even go into what I had to do to remove the old faucet. Lets just say a hammer was involved.

Thank everyone. Once I figure out why my lawn sprinklers are coming on with the kitchen faucet I'll have it licked. :D

When I was a young man in the AF a hammer was included in our tool kits. Later on they were taken out, man it's hard to fix an INS without a hammer :whistling:

Congrats on another home fixit project!

Thanks Tony but hold off on the congrats.... she bought new bathroom fixtures too. Stay tune tomorrow in case I need to ask about using an 8 or 16 lb sledge.

I'll be over tomorrow, I need to hone my demolition skills :whistling: I hope you have tile in there, 16 Lb works best ;)

C'mon Kenny, how many other faucets do you have in your house? Ya mean you couldn't have gone to another faucet in the house, looked underneath and seen that the hot is hooked up to the long one?

I'm a third generation landlord. Take some professional advice. Hire a plumber. In the long run, they're worth every penny.

Doc.

Pfft...amateurs. You gotta go with a 10 gauge or a .300. :D

I suppose I could have but I needed the cigar break. These jobs are delicate. Seemed like a good time to sit my azz at the puter and fire up a shitty cigar while everyone else helped..... you know, in a Tom Sawyer kinda way.

I just took a peek at the bathroom faucets. :0 There's no way I can get under the sink and get to the faucets... they're tucked up behind the sink to where I can't get my hands in. I think my wife new what she was doing. An hour of frustration working on this and I'll tear the damn sink out which will leave me having to call a contractor to come remodel. Yep, I'm sure she had it figured out from the beginning.

The real question..... what cigar do I pair up with plumbing work?

Do you have a basin wrench? That's likely the tool you will need for that job. Go to the local hardware and get the least expensive one they have unless you plan on doing this type of thing often. They aren't good for much else...
