I'm fairly new to this place and its treated me very well. Nice people and even better conversation. That being said, I've read a lot of asshatery in past threads and generally keep out of it unless my two cents is warranted. But when you start messing with my well being I tend to get involved head on.

Recently we've had a new member join our community and immediatly get involved. He was in chat two or three nights in a row and had a lot to say. None of his conversation was harsh. He was very polite if not overly eager. When I first talked to him he asked what I did and I of course said "I'm in the Marines". He then said he was a retired "E-7" in the Marines. Marines don't refer to themselves as a Pay Grade. We are very proud of the rank we acheive, especially if we retire. That was weird at first so I just chocked it up to Old-School. Then he asked what I did and I returned the question. At first he said 3336 and then immediatly withdrew when I didn't know what the hell that MOS was. He returned with "I was a 0336".

I got curious tonight after a post this guy made in the 9/11 thread from yester day. This is a little weird as well. Marines are taught first thing that it is never spelled 'Corp'. As a Marine you are to never spell that word in that way. It is always 'Corps'. That might just be Old-School as well.

So after all that I got REALLY curious and decided to dig a little deeper. As Marines, we have the ability to look up any Retired Marine that has ever served. In his Intro post he said his name was Keith. I used his first name loosely in my search along with his last name which he posted in his 9/11 post.....Keith Meyer is what he said his name was so I searched all Active/Reserve Retired Marines with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and lower. I came up with only a Kevin Meyers and that Marine is currently Active Duty.

All this is pretty weird to me and might all be a mistake. All I'm asking is a little feedback from this guy since he deftly dodged all questions by me, after berating Jim in chat.

MightyWhitey....if you've read this, feel free to post or PM me all you want. I just want this cleared up and you would'nt work with me. If I'm wrong I'm extremly sorry. I just want some clarification......

Hey bro, can you get in trouble for posting that? I would just hate 2 see you get in trouble for it....if not, I hope you get the response you're looking for.

Nope...nothing I posted is Classified or Secret in any way.....
What Lurch posted is a tool available thru the services portal, is a tool tp pretty much track your buddies were abouts, sometimes you make friends in on station and both end in diferent places and somehow loose track of each other this tool helps you get back on track with your buds. I know that's not what the individual services design it for but every Joe pretty much uses it for. As Lurch post it there is nothing violating OPSEC on his post.

Lurch don't get sucked up on that posers world. Anyone that ever served Ret or not usually don't refer themselves as a Pay Grade but as you stated by the Rank you held at the time of your Ret or ETS. When people ask me I'm quick to give out branch of service, former rank and mos, hell if I feel happy enough I'll go through duty stations, awards and war stories :) The post of the 9/11 thread sounds like more of a political statement and disgruntle citizen than a fellow Brother-In-Arms, a true trooper wouldn't express is such a piss poor manner.

Just my .02¢

Raf

Lurch there a ton of people who misrepresent themselves. Just let Rod know what is happening and let him handle it.

I know some people out there are not 100% truthful about their lives and what they do. When you start messing with one of the greatest institutions around I tend to get a little pissy. Especially when my family and I have dedicated so much time and energy into making this a great service.

Gunny Meyer, you're called out. Defend yourself, or never post here again. May the souls of a million Marines who served with honor haunt your dreams if you're a poser!

This same poster lurch is referring to has said plenty of other things in chat that qualify as a first-class asshat.

Edited for better wording.

Hear, hear. Lying to your cigar brothers, many of whom have honorably and proudly served, is the lowest form of scumbaggery I can imagine.

Clear this up, or move on.

Good work, Lurch - B.B.S.

I know there are a few Marines here that will not appreciate a poser in any way (I am not a Marine and I take offense to this). As Nully said "Meyer, defend yourself, or never post here again", personally, I couldn't agree more.

Lurch come on now, see I don't want to begin the Services War. USMC isn't the only great institution, I don't really know USCG, USAF or USN :D even though I agree with you statement!

"Nous Défions"

I agree with everyone here. If this guy is not telling the truth, then he deserves anything and everything he gets.

But, I can see this getting ugly real fast, I think it might be wise to let Rod deal with this, so no one here risks a warning/ban...

We all know who the President calls when he needs something done quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Hint: It's not the Army

He'll get his, so I wouldn't worry about it. Carry on doing what you're doing, we all appreciate it.

Put me down as one of those (FORMER, not ex Marine ;) ). who do not appreciate it.

Edited because I hit post reply by accident.

This guy is a joke, I was a Navy Corpsman and he didn't even know what that was. He said that the Marines had there own docs. He was using some slang that only a vietnam vet would use and yet he stated that he was not in vietnam. This guy is asshat. So do what I know you guys can do best.

They do have their own docs! Their called Corpsman  Oh you said that already, sorry I couldn't resist.

They belong to the Navy, and they take good care of us. It's like Amreican Express Travelers Checks.....................Don't leave home without em. ;)

Edited to add: Of course the ones I ran across in Boot Camp were some sadistic bastids.
