I.Y.A.O.Y.A.S.
I'm fairly new to this place and its treated me very well. Nice people and even better conversation. That being said, I've read a lot of asshatery in past threads and generally keep out of it unless my two cents is warranted. But when you start messing with my well being I tend to get involved head on.
Recently we've had a new member join our community and immediatly get involved. He was in chat two or three nights in a row and had a lot to say. None of his conversation was harsh. He was very polite if not overly eager. When I first talked to him he asked what I did and I of course said "I'm in the Marines". He then said he was a retired "E-7" in the Marines. Marines don't refer to themselves as a Pay Grade. We are very proud of the rank we acheive, especially if we retire. That was weird at first so I just chocked it up to Old-School. Then he asked what I did and I returned the question. At first he said 3336 and then immediatly withdrew when I didn't know what the hell that MOS was. He returned with "I was a 0336".
I got curious tonight after a post this guy made in the 9/11 thread from yester day. This is a little weird as well. Marines are taught first thing that it is never spelled 'Corp'. As a Marine you are to never spell that word in that way. It is always 'Corps'. That might just be Old-School as well.
So after all that I got REALLY curious and decided to dig a little deeper. As Marines, we have the ability to look up any Retired Marine that has ever served. In his Intro post he said his name was Keith. I used his first name loosely in my search along with his last name which he posted in his 9/11 post.....Keith Meyer is what he said his name was so I searched all Active/Reserve Retired Marines with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and lower. I came up with only a Kevin Meyers and that Marine is currently Active Duty.
All this is pretty weird to me and might all be a mistake. All I'm asking is a little feedback from this guy since he deftly dodged all questions by me, after berating Jim in chat.
MightyWhitey....if you've read this, feel free to post or PM me all you want. I just want this cleared up and you would'nt work with me. If I'm wrong I'm extremly sorry. I just want some clarification......
