A friend of mine from childhood just got back from Iraq last week. He was in 2nd Armored and just recently touched down in Germany after doing his first tour. I've been keeping up with his wife and parents while he was away and sending him some care packages too to keep him motivated and comfortable. I wanted to share his coming 'home' with you guys since many of you are/were in the Armed Services and whenever one comes home safe its a cause for praise and celebration. The last few months of his deployment was to find and take care of IED's. Needless to say his wife and parents were a bit on edge. I apologize if this is a bit rampling but I'm still on my first cup of coffee.

You have to know that now his second fight will begin. I tell people that all who go to Iraq come back wounded. It will be hard to adjust and figure out how to absorb that experience and get adjusted to the family life again. Finding the way home is a lot harder than just getting on a plane and returning. The transition is hard even though on the outside it looks like all is fine. Watch his back now, he and his family will need it.

My thanks (and the thanks of millions of other Americans) for his service. We appreciate it more than he may know.

I have a nephew over there on his 2nd tour, a GI whose enlistment was over last August. We hope and pray to have Pvt. R. Zaza home safe soon too.

Thank god. Every one of our men and women who make it home in one piece is a little victory worth celebrating. No, it's a big victory worth celebrating.

Wilkey

Will keep him in our prayers. What unit is he with?

I am sure all of you are releaved to see him safely out of Iraq, my Father was in the Navy during the first Iraq war. It was very unsettling but at the same time a sense of pride to know these fine men and women who volunteer to serve and protect our freedoms. Many thanks to your friend and all of the others that serve.
