Beware amateur night! The fella that doesn't normally drink and drive will be out in droves this evening and into the wee hours of the morning. Everyone needs a tea-totin' friend.  Have a Happy New Year and Feast of the Circumcision.

Yes, please be careful everyone and don't drink and drive. When I worked for AAA, we did free tows for anyone that found themselves too drunk to drive during the holidays. Contact your local chapter and ask if they offer this. Otherwise call a friend or a cab. Be safe.

Broke training (diet) and did a nice prime rib on the rotiss, had a nice salad and fresh rolls, and a lovely ten year old bottle of wine.  At home with my dear wife and the mutts.  Safe, sane and wonderful.......

Doc, I was in NYC this week for half the week and my nieces co-worker was killed in a cab stopped at a red light. A drunk driver never stopped and she was killed as she flew from the back seat. Only 27 years old. May she rest in peace.

That's terrible to hear. I can't imagine how devastated her family is, and how someone could deal with that guilt. I'm too familiar with someone who made a bad decision and spend the rest of their life paying for it. The guilt consumed them. You would think it would have been a wake up call, but it was the exact opposite. Unfortunately, they are no longer with us.

What frustrates me is the mindset that people think they're only risking themselves, so who cares. I've often heard, "I'd never drink if my kids are with me." What about the kids across the yellow lines in the other car? Also as aggregating, "I've done it a million times... I'll be fine."

I've made choices I shouldn't have. I've also been very lucky. I've seen first hand how bad it could have been for me had I not been as lucky. We all have to accept that we should never drink and drive. It's just not worth the risk.

^^ Def awful but half of that is because many cities don't have any public transport or any other alternatives. Especially a big city like Houston where I am, its really tough to get around so those types of accidents are rampant here. It's really unfortunate.
