Anyone remember starting into the neighbor's living room window at the COLOR TV? Apologies to any here who were startled by a boy gawking in their living room window! The rich guy on Grandview avenue had AIR CONDITIONING too! There was a big wooden evaporator tower - in southeast Texas with its 90+% RH.

You don't have to too old to remember BW tv and no air conditioning. I had neither until I was married.

I got promoted at work and went from $4.50 to $6.98 an hour (54%!). My first paycheck with the new rate I bought a 20 inch color stereo TV/monitor with an infrared remote! (for you young guys, this was 1987, stereo TV was brand new. In fact the local stations did not broadcast stereo until several months after I got the TV). Because of an error by the salesperson I bought this marvel of technology for $328.00. The advertised set was a manual (rotary dial) tune color set, no stereo, no monitor function.

Soon after, we moved into an apartment that had central air! We were "movin' on up!".

Now... Who remembers Miss Marty?

The basic premise of American Pie is that music's, rock-n-roll to be specific, soul died when the plane carrying Holly, Valens and Richardson went down. But, if you dissect the song verse by verse, you'll see there's more symbolism about Bob Dylan than Holly. It's also seems to have a theme of the innocent, though quite rebelious in it's time, rock-n-roll lifestyle of the 50's turned to activism in the 60's and failed in it's "mission". McLean's never really spoke of what all of the symbolism really is, but there's a ton of speculation and some fun reads if you do a Google search on it. I saw him play at a park near my house when I was in college and it was a pretty cool show. I don't remember much more than everyone singing along to American Pie and laughing at the ex-hippies really getting into it. LOL!

Picture is kinda small, but I believe that is Twiggy or maybe Goldie Hawn. The other is definately Geraldine, a.k.a. Flip Wilson.....

Goldie Hawn from her Laugh-in Days! Her and Judy Crane were the sock it to me girls. I never saw the show, because I wasn't born yet, but my brothers told me about it. :whistling:

Who remembers American Bandstand when it was still broadcast out of Philadelphia?

From what station?

Geez I remember watching American Bandstand every Saturday, Baseball's Game of the week with Joe, Curt and later Tony.

How about when we got our first RCA remote control with the 4 white buttons that's right boys and girls only 4! Home milk delivery with glass bottles, cork on the inside of the glass Coca Cola bottle caps, Frito Lays promotion with dinasours and football figures and the little floor button in the upper left side of the floor board that turned on the high beams when you stepped on it.

Oy! I am feeling old ;)

Okay, so I got a few wrong ...... I remember seeing bra's being burned  . I was actually born on the cusp for the Yuppies but I do remember quite a bit of these.

remote control? .... oh, you must mean the clicker! My kids can't believe when I talk about B&W television or the fact that I waited an entire year, every year, just to watch my favorite childhood movie on the TV, The Wizard Of Oz. How about Disney and Mutual Omaha Wild Kingdom on Sunday nights? or even Saturday morning cartoons!

Only two kinds of people remember the 60's, nerds and liars.

Doc.
