My other hobby
Got some of my favorite music on and cruising the web...Don't step on the grass, sam by Steppenwolf, followed by Just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in (Wiki this song, I swear it says this about the electric guitar part "...the proto-metal solo played by Glen Campbell..."). What's up with that song? It's cool, but the WTF is up with those lyrics?
Then Spirit in the Sky comes on...You know that "beep, beep" noise that's so cool in that song? There is a whole page on how to do it written by the guitarist on Wiki...here's the first paragraph:
Using a 2-pickup Gibson, set the neck pickup volume to zero, bridge pickup volume to max, with the pickup switch in the middle position (with Gibson wiring this gives you silence in the middle position). Do a string bend, picking the B & E strings together with one hit, just ahead of the beat, then use the pickup switch to kick in the bridge pickup in triplets (6 per bar) as you let the B string bend down two frets.
I have no idea what all that means, but I wish I could talk like that.
In the meantime, about 200 "cheerleaders" checked in to the hotel and are spending their first couple of hours opening and slamming every door in the hotel. Plus they are having big fun hanging in the hallway, talking loudly and giggling. I'm talking to my wife on the phone and she says "Who's that?". I say "Can you hear that giggling?"...of course she can "Plain as day" she says, "it sounds like they are right in your room!".
I wonder if they sell a nice bugle edition of Reveille on iTunes? Yes they do...I just looked it up. I gotta get up early to catch a plane and there isn't anything like a nice loud edition of Reveille to get you going in the morning!
Yeah, I'm old.....so what? I gotta finish my beer and go to bed.
Happy Friday the 13th to all!
