River is up

2 days ago there was a boat ramp extending some 100 ft or so so, now the Mississippi River is rising above moderate flood stage, 300 yards from the duck lake. The photo is from the bank but is behind an island, so it’s just the slough.

Water's about 1 ft from the road surface. Tomorrow it will not be driveable.

Does it flood most years, or is this uncommon? Or snow pack was not great this year, more worried about fires than floods here.

Normally there is a spring flood, but that is normal for April/May. Levee’s and such up river have severely constricted the river channel and the water now gets dumped in St. Charles County Missouri, so the floods here are more numerous and severe. Rain north of here has a huge impact on the area and that has happened in this case.

Oh, wow. I hope it doesn't get too bad this year. When I was in St. Louis a few years ago, the water was just receding and you could see how much damage was left behind. Stay safe!
