This is a video of an in-flight demonstration flown by the Russian SU-30MK fighter aircraft.

You'll not believe what you are about to see. The fighter can stall from high speed, stopping in less than a second. Then it demonstrates an ability to descend tail first without causing a compressorstall. It can also recover from a flat spin in less than a minute. These capabilities probably don't exist in any other aircraft in the world today.

Take a look at the video with the sound up - - expand pic x2

Tomcats have been able to do that for awhile, its sweet watching them hover before take off.

Mark, This was e-mailed to me. I really know nothing about aircraft. But man I would love to be able to do that with out passing out.

If you wanna go for a ride go here....http://www.su30mk.com/
Those front canards (the little winglets near the cockpit) allow this aircraft to turn very sharply. It will be no match for our F22 Raptor that just came into service with the USAF, as the F22 has thrust vectoring. If you think the S30 can turn on a dime, look for an F22 demo and you will be amazed. The SU30 is comparable to our F15 Eagle, which is a 3rd generation aircraft (in service since the '70's), the F22 is a 4th generation aircarft (in service sinece late 2006).
Basically, the russian plane will do well in a dogfight with an F15, but this has nothing on an F22, like bringing a pocket knife to an artillery battle.
Nice demo vid, thanks for sharing.

Cool video.....I'd never seen one with a full demo. It's an impressive plane.

A Tomcat cannot hover (neither can the SU-30, although at times it looks like it can). You sure you're not thinking of a Harrier?

The SU-30 has thrust vectoring, too.

Yep, true...but the SU30 lacks one thing...stealth.
