I've always been partial to the Benneli. But it's more important that gun feels comfortable in your hands. If it is, you will probably hit what your shooting at.
Since you sound serious, get yourself a copy Shotgunning: The Art and Science by Bob Brister. Everything you ever wanted to know about shotgunning. It's considered The Bible and a good place to start before spend any money.I think that's the best advice - do some research and then go to a reputable dealer and get fitted. Thanks guys.
...and find out it is not ideal for what I want to use it for.

I'm a huge fan of the Benelli Super Black Eagle, it shoots a max load 3.5" (in 12 ga) or a 2.75" trap load. I've never had a jam, and mine has killed (or shot at) quite a few ducks, and killed a good # of turkeys. A couple friends like the Beretta Extrema, pretty much does the same as the Benelli.
