As many of you know, I'm not the kind of "admin" who says do it my way or leave. When I implement a new rule I try and go with what the general community wants, and not what one person wants.

Auctions have become a topic here recently, so please vote on what you think of the whole thing. We'll let this poll go for a few days.

Thanks,
Rod
PS - All votes are anonymous, so please vote honestly.

Not for personal gain. Fund raisers for herf's or things not associated for personal gain.... yes.

I couldn't have said it better myself! Hey Bruddah Mike... a nice, calm and well worded reply! LOL!

Aloha,

Wade

How about a poll for trader comments?

Let's keep it to the topic of auctions, no thread-jacking please.

22 to 2 - is there really a need to keep this open for a few days?

At least through tomorrow Dave. Some folks don't check in on the weekends.

Leaving our membership at roughly 1,245 members(I know it's higher now, but that's what it was when I looked last time) that means that 0.02% of CP members have voted. I agree, leave it open so more members can see and become inolved.

I would also agree that that we should perhaps have a vote on the trader comment thing as stated by Moki.

I personally could give a rip either way...but how about making a decision on the best of both fronts? Auctions allowed, with NO RESERVE. That way any opportunity to make a larger profit is balance buy the possibility to make less. Just an idea.

no starting bids, no reserves, take your chances. This way, you could allow auctions yet cut down on the possiblity of someone taking advantage of fellow bruddahs.

Basically...you allow an auctioning system...that no one with questionable intentions will ever use.LMAO ;)

I think if you follow Beasties advice AND make it in a separate room (maybe under the Trade\Group Buy category) where you don't have to go look if you don't want to, then I could see it.

Otherwise, NO.

(However, I don't think it'd keep me away if they were allowed - not that many of you would mind if it did :D )

Sooooooooooo what would we have to do to get you to go away?? Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum...

:p

As for trader comments, if those who are asking to have them as your "rep-o-meter" you need to sit back and get a grip. If it is for you to praise others, well I think we have our fill of overblown egos.

I could go either way. Doesn't really matter if some less than honorable bids. Usually you need you sign in to even bid and if you see someone with one post maybe you have an admin remove the bid. A rule like a min post count would be needed to even bid. Say a hundred or whatever. Cigars aren't shipped until paid so no chance of not getting your money. Let's face it sometimes the hobby gets ahead of someone and this will be a way to help a fellow brother out and not an overpowering auctionsite that you pay listing fee's for or a cigar auction site that feeds a corporate machine and not a board member. This way a brother gets the smokes he wants and another board brother gets the money he needs. Site is fine without this auction but being able to unload a box of smokes you may not care for and be able to offer them to another brother that does would be great IMO.

Good luck with either direction you go with.

Auctions are for Yahoo and Cbid.
CP is for the brotherhood to trade ,experience and most of all enjoy the vast and tasty world of cigars.

Forget auction's.... there's a "for sale" forum which should be all anyone would need to move their wares.

As for trader comments...... what for? Not worth the bandwidth they'd be written on.

How true Joe....how true.....

How about limiting how many you could do? keep it as pm reply only
1 every two months if profit is for yourself, charity is another story.

Who wants to bids against millions on E-Bay or Yahoo?, if you can keep it between "brothers & friends" here.

Who wants to bid on E-Bay or Yahoo on cigars and find after you win some poedunk stored them in his glovebox for months when you can trust a credited member cared for them correctly here ?
