i know we all have good/bad or indifferent experiences with various vendors, do you think we should have a permenant thread in the marketplace section to rate vendors? I think if we get enough positive views on this, Rod may allow it here. just curious.

Could be worth doing, though I pretty much stick to 2 or 3 vendors that I know are quality vendors.

Maybe just toss the crappy ones on cigarthief.com? Just a thought.

I think it's not only a good idea, but it's imperative.

I think the forum should deal with all types of cigar vendors (except those for ISOMs), including B&M.

My experience with Davidus and Iron's recent experience would definitely fit in there.

if your talking about having a rate the vendor section for domestic cigars i see no problems but if your thinking of adding a section there for cuban vendors it is a very bad idea........

Good idea. Although most of (as was said) have 2-3 vendors we use most, every now and then some other vendor posts what looks like a good deal. And then it goes downhill from there. If we knew ahead of time that the vendor was terrible, then we would figure that saving a few bucks is not worth the hassle.

And it will save me the time of posting how bad cheapercigars.com is every time they show up in the Hot Deals section of the site!

we will be excluding isom sources, as isoms are illegal to purchase or own by a citizen of the U.S.

How do you propose that this be regulated / moderated to avoid the (inevitable) habanos dealer conflict? ???

No need. Just keep on doing what you're doing. It seems I've read nothing but good reviews of your site.

totally agree Lumb...

You're opening up a can of worms..... some peoples views of what constitutes a good cigar shop is far from others and input would be very easy to manipulate.

Better you open a forum for people to ask if anyone has dealt with a particular vendor than have people post good/bad issues with one. This way can be manipulated also but it will be easier to spot.

Best advice is to find a few good shops and do your business with them. Chasing around trying to find a dollar savings will cost you more in the long run.

I agree. We don't want a popularity contest on here between shops. Besides, most everyone sees who is good and who is bad. It ain't broke guys, don't fix it. ;)

good points guys....didn;t think of that.

On the surface this sounds great! However, after reading the previous posts I have to agree it can be a huge can o' worms with members flaming on whichever vender "done them wrong" recently (I have a few choice words for Thompson and Buyitnowcigars. ) Besides there are only so many vendors and eventually the thread will burn out or become repetitive.

I have seen on occasion here and on another board that some members, when thinking of sending some business to an unknown vendor they first create a thread to test the feelings of the other members regarding the vendor(s) they are thinking of trying.

This will be more topical and then the thread will die out quickly once the question has been answered and will not become stale.

The "Post if you want to know" approach seems to be a better solution to me.

That is my $.02
