Smoking Room, just do it

I'm making plans to build a smoking room off my deck in the next 5 years. This she is fine with... lol

We converted one of those Amish sheds into a Man Cave over at my buddy Tim"s house. We insulated it, wired it for everything, installed a Panasonic remote ventilation unit in the ceiling, and then sheet rocked it. For heat & AC we installed a mini-split unit and supplement that with a propane heater in the Winter just to get it up to temp quicker.

It took us about 2-3 months working on it when we could and cost about 9-10K. I did the fan system, surround sound wiring & install, and all the trim work. Tim had buddies that did the electrical wiring and the sheet rock & spackling. We all humped to dig out the lawn and poured the footings and slab. The shed was a pre-fab unit and we just slid it off the trailer and onto the pad we made. These pics are a bit dated, now there is a leather sectional with recliners and we've added an old time popcorn maker and a much bigger flat screen.

It's awesome on NFL Sundays and the playoffs!

Man that is great you guys did this. But what's up with the décor? Or is he doubling this as an 80's Porno movie set also?

You haven't met Gary yet, have you?

Very nice set up Gary. So is your buddy getting taxed just on a shed? No one way I could get away with that in my town. They would tax me on another house!

I still didn't have the pleasure (or misfortune  ) of meeting this gentleman

Not even that Kris...we kinda did it clandestinely. Did the cement work on a weekend and had the shed brought in on the following Sunday. The town has no idea it's there...plus, all the guys that helped out are cops or detectives in town and they know everyone,  ;)

When I lived in a house with a hot tub, I did enjoy year round smoking.  I'm not sure I'd call it the ideal cigar smoking environment, but as an experience, its hard to beat.

Brand new to this forum, hope it is ok to post this.

Just a thought for anyone interested in creating a strong air current in their room.

When I was in college we used to have a ventilation system to release all types of smoke from the dorm rooms.  Fan in the window facing out, cover the openings around the fan (we used pillows, but we were in college and didn't have anything better). This forces the air to leave the room and not return through the openings, which was always a problem.  It was even better if the room across the hall has their window open! you couldn't smell anything in the hall, even if you stood next to the door.  The smoke flies out of the room that way.

This works best if you allow air into the room through the natural gaps in the door, so no weather stripping or, as our peers did it, towels at the bottom of the door.

That's exactly how I do it.

Why not just exhale through a paper towel tube stuffed with dryer sheets?

That is a great looking addition to the back yard!  Nice job with the finish landscaping as well!

Tom, stop drawing on your youth....we're 14 years old and smoking weed in our bedrooms while Mommy & Daddy are downstairs watching TV.  ;)
