I did some search and I am still looking for more opinion. I read about ecoquest. But what other systems do folks here use either alone or in combo. I also posted this at CF.

The wife does not know this , yet and it will be a tough sell. But I know with the proper equipment, I can get a way with an occasional puff.

So, how many of you have smoking rooms and what systems do you have to address the smoke and the smell. I am more leaning toward stand alone systems rather than the installed one. Thank you in advance fo you input.

Joe

Joe good luck with your project! I know the little lady will give in. :D

Mine's under construction.

No porus surfaces (fabric, carpet, etc.).

Trion 400 Smoke eliminator.

The door is weatherstripped and threshholded just as if it were external.

340cfm exhaust fan for those times when the SE can't keep up.

If I smell smoke on the wrong side of the door, let alone my wife, it will be back to the driveway for me.

I just smoke in an open room with a fan placed in an open window exhausting the smoke out.
Like Matt said though, the key is "non Porous". I have leather chairs in the room, and hardwood floors. I empty the ashtray afterwards, and I have absolutely no residual smell this way.

I tried the same thing in a room with carpet and it took two days of burning candles, opening windows, and deodorizer to get it out.

Thanks, Anthony! Hopefully if your travels find you in the twin cities you can stop by and visit.

Right now have a fabric sofa.and an area rug...I guess those have to go. Thanks for the tip. I have wallpapering will that be an issue, also?

great input here... just to add.

what’s more important is to get the smoke out of the
room then eco quest can eliminate the smoke residue.

I'd say do both...

I converted a room in the finished basement. I installed the best bathroom "fart fan" Home Depot offered, weatherstripped the door and use Osium and Febreeze every now and then. Can't smell anything in the rest of the house.

i have a home office downstairs in the finished basement, and i put a double fan in the window, and after smoking, let it run for a couple hours. Slight cigar smell in there, it's got short carpet, but it's slight. I need to get an air purifier i think. With 4 females in my house, a 'man' room is a must

A guy I know is going to get one for the room his wife smokes in, I'll let you know how it works.

PS - Seems like the "package" deal is the way to go and add the smoke filter

Hope this helps

Thanks, Mark!

Anyone here knows anything about the pros and cons of an ozone air purifier. I've read some health concerns such as worse for asthma sufferers, eye and throat irritation, etc. are these true?

While installing an exhaust fan will work, it will also take cool air or heat out of the room. You must treat the air in the room. Go here http://www.smokeeaters.org/ for great info. You can even call these guys for expert advice.

We have a private cigar club and hold a once per month dinner with 80 in attendance. We have 4 commercial electrstatic smoke eaters in the room that handle the smoke. If we just used exhaust fans it would be like a wind tunnel.

Thank you everyone for your input.

I going for an ecoquest, a window vent fan and a lampe berger. I will take the rug and the cloth sofa and love seat furnitures out.

I will need a leather couch and/or a leather chair or two. This will be a work in progress for sure!

Joe

PS To tide things over, I rented a locker at my local tobacconist. They have nice leather couches and HD TV.

Don't know if you are a member, or even have Costcos' in your area, but they have some good deals on some nice leather chair/couches.
That's where I got mine from.
