So what about Prince?

Watch and decide for yourself how he did.

Now the music....since Ray you pointed out Jimi Hendrix...was that the song he did but more with a slower blues-like tempo?
When I heard it I was like that sounds like Jimi  Either I can't remember the lyrics to that classic or we're thinking of a different song. It was before he performed Purple Rain.

Thanks for the linky. I'm embarrassed  It was All Along....I didn't know the song immediately following and confused the lyrics :D

Ray thanks for the link to a great performance in such a large arena while raining. I forgot to mention Little Richard in one of my previous posts, he has borrowed from so many , but is so unique.

The man is a musical genius. He was awesome last night. If you think about all the music he has released, and written and produced for others, it just boggles the mind at the sheer volume of work he has done...and they say that like Jimi, he has more unrealeased music on tape than everything that he's ever released combined. :0

Prince lives here now and does a show at the Rio. I saw prince twice in the same night. He played at the MGM grand in 96 and then we saw him at the after party where he played the crystal ball bootleg from begining to end. awesome, there is a bootleg floating around (I lost my copy years ago) with Prince jamming with Miles Davis in his living room.

Yeah, he said that on an interview about 6 or 7 years ago. He says for the most part during the 80s and 90s he wrote one song per day.

That would be an awesome addition to any Price fan's collection

Excellent show. Always was a premier guitarist, and showman. Though his sound is not my style I'm impressed by his ability, and yeah I liked the "drumline" aspect of the performance too.

Dammit - they pulled the video down as it was loading on my machine...

What do you mean? I'm watching it now. ???

Every video link I can find on YouTube is dead, with a removal notice of copyright claim by BMG. It's probably cached on your machine. You might be able to save it if it's there - do a search for it in your temp files (the size will give it away if it's not obvious), and you should be able to watch it with VLC player (you'll probably have to add the .flv extension to the temp file). If you use Firefox, you can use the Video Downloader extension to save videos like this from sites like YouTube when you view them (there's directions on the site if you want to convert the .flv files to other formats as well).

Don't worry Rob...you're not alone. My daughter looks at me crazy when I rock out to my enormous Prince collection.

Oh and that link is a no go for me as well. This was posted:

This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Universal Music Publishing Group

:(

Makes perfect sense. Something that might cause interest and perhaps spur his sales is pulled off. Recording companies are really clueless and are getting worse.

They're even stupider than you think - when Steve Jobs said he wanted to get rid of all DRM, the RIAA actually sent him a letter thanking him because they thought he was going to license Fairplay and open up the market for iTunes songs to be played on more than just Apple's stuff so they could get more money (fat chance of that ever happening). They don't pay the artists one dime from all the crap they've sued for (from downloads to blank CD and tape royalties), and they got away with price fixing CD's for 20 years, but they sure as hell keep making more money than ever while crying that they are losing out because they can't tell people what thy can or can't do with a song after they've actually paid for it. I've bought 3 CDs in the past 6 years, only one of them was for me (been even longer than that since anything was even worth "finding", no less buying).

BTW, thanks - Prince kicked arse ;)
