Now that we had a Major Natural Disaster has anyone heard any countries pledging to donate money, food, supplies or man power to us? So far I haven't heard of any yet?

Edit: Spelling

Of course not, would you really expect them to? We're always helping everyone else, but no one ever wants to help us. What a joke...

I stand corrected. Looks like a few countries have offered at least man power maybe more.

several countrys have offered assistance, but from what i've read we have to accept it, that might be the rub.

The cool thing is that we are probably one of the only countries in this world that can actually handle something like this by our damn selves. :D

True, but the world wide offers of assistance goes along way.

I retract my above post and stand corrected. Nice to see other's actually are willing to help.

Sometimes being wrong is a good thing ;)

I think the problem is the media - it took this long for the info to get around, and it's still not even being mentioned on the news stations :(

MSNBC article quoted Condi Rice as saying no helpful offer would be refused.

well,
cannot speak for the world but the relief effort is far reaching within the US of A!

Our local mayor has offered the services of the local FD Dive team (yours truly and TuxIndy if he weren't headed to Iraq...), as well as the Gov offering plenty of other help.

"Gov. Frank Murkowski has offered to send troops and equipment from the Alaska National Guard, including mobile kitchens and planes, to Mississippi and Louisiana if they are needed. Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich has offered divers and other water rescue teams and equipment." Full Story

doubt the water will be like this tho... Fire Dept Dive Team

Wonder if I'll get my moose hunt in!!! It'll be volunteer but how could I not go...

Israel was the first country to offer assistance

Israel's always the first to offer help unless we happen to beat them to it...they even offer it to their Islamic neighbors, most of whom would like them destroyed (now that's hatred, when you are offered aid for your people in the time of a disaster and you turn it down out of spite)...from what I hear they have some of the best disaster aid teams in the world...must come from lots of experience digging the bodies of women and children out of blown up shopping malls, grocery stores, restaurants, and discos...definitely military targets there...speaking of which, anyone hear of any aid coming from any of our Islamic "friends?" You know, the ones that were dancing in the streets on 9/11? Especially considering the fact that almost every confrontation we've been in since Vietnam, has been to save Muslims somewhere...Sarajevo, Mogadishu, Kuwait, et cetera...and while the liberal bleeding heart media would have you believe otherwise, even the Iraqi's, who are having their first taste of freedom in 30 years, not that I am saying our Prez should have dropped us in there, and we've lost a lot of good men and women there and in Afghanistan...the only real judge of whether it was right or wrong will be the history books that are yet to be written...

F*ck the world, I'd like the freaking USA to do something - the useless politicians are all patting themselves on the back at how fast things are getting done, completely ignoring the fact that not a damned thing has been done to get these dying people any food or water for over 5 days. We can get relief to foreign countries at the drop of a dime, but refuse to do anything for our own - although I'm now wondering if anything was ever done to help others when they say it has.
