It's the birthday of Ernest Hemingway, born in Oak Park, Illinois. 1896. He was the author of The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms, and The Old Man and the Sea, for which he is considered a national treasure by Cubans. He was also a cigar smoker, and didn't smoke no fuggin' lanceros. ;) So, fire up that Hemingway today!

Doc.

Thanks for the heads up.Heading out to the B&M today and will have one in his honor.

 ....a non-lancero size...

Thanks Doc for the info.

I've been trying to figure out what to smoke today in celebration of my daughter's first birthday.

A Hemingway Maddie fit's the bill nicely. :)

Haha Doc, you and your lancero bashing...

Did a crazed man stab you in the ear with a varnished lancero while you were sleeping or something?

Fired up a masterpiece maduro over the weekend, a little early but I needed a good poker cigar.

Would you advise we get raging drunk, also?

Why make it any different than any other day? :D

I would advise skipping the Electroshock treatment and the events that may follow said treatments, however.

I guess I know what I'll be smoking tonight. Got a special one that would suit the occasion well.

No wonder I decided on a Short Story while puttering around the house at 3:00 this morning.

Celebrating his birthday and I didn't even realize it.

hmmm.... got no maddies but I don't think he will be any less honored if I smoke a "regular" hemi.

Thanks Doc. Hemingway is one of my favorite writers and I will be smoking one of his namesake cigars after dinner this evening. If you appreciate ole Ernest, Jim Harrison is an author cut from some of the same cloth - a Michigan-born, outdoorsman with an eye that captures delicate subtleties that at first glance seems at odds much of his subject matter.

Rob, if you choose to ignore this advice, I'm sure SoulDog24CA will be happy to tase you.

Well, I may actually have to stop at the B & M on the way home and pick one up...if they have any..and if I can afford it lol. I've visited his home in Key West and it was very interesting. I also have a polydactyl cat...commonly referred to as a "Hemingway" cat. Smart little bugger....you should see him eat with a spoon! lol
