Solo Stove vs alternative

We have a solo stove bonfire with the additional stand you can put underneath and the heat deflector. Heat deflector works great in the winter, but I’ve even put my pizza stone on it and used the top of a Weber grill to make pizza lol.

The only thing is dislike is with the older units. The ash falls to the bottom through some holes and it’s harder to empty. Kind of a process of dumping it and using a shop vac on it.

The newer units I believe you can remove that piece on the bottom and empty it. Probably my only complaint. Came with a carry bag so occasionally it goes on camping trips with us.

We also have a mesh piece you can put over top, so if your alternative one offers something like that I highly recommend. Really helps if the wood start ā€œpoppingā€ to keep embers off you or nearby furniture.
