...and no, they didn't ask if they could take the pictures and information from my web site. The fact that they credited me with them is nice, I guess, but besides the point.

That is SERIOUS bad form. I'd hate to see you forced to watermark your pictures.

Having had my copyright violated, I'm right with ya, Moki.

If they hot-linked to the photos on your site, you could have a little sport with 'em, that I've seen others do to those who steal. Rename the pic for use on your site while changing the pic to which they linked say something like, "I'm a big fat girly photo thief."

It's not nice to steal photos or bandwidth.
 
Did you get a medal.... I think the smack down medal is in order. I would replace em with some gay porn, if they hot linked em.

I know it's a little late and probably a tremendous job but, wouldn't it be wise to stamp your sites name across all pics on it? This happens all to much and unfortunately some people don't realize its wrong.

I don't think that's what Andrew's pissed about. They cite where they got the photos from, but they didn't ASK Andrew if they could use them.

Right. And they do need to ask, because I retain copyright over the images and information posted on that web site. More importantly, perhaps, I don't think that the work I've done should be used by another web site to generate traffic, and thus sell ads, etc.

vitolas.net is completely free, there are no ads on there, it's meant to be a benefit to everyone.
 
Wow! I saw that here the other day and thought it was impressive. I mostly thought to myself that it looked like a lot of work and time. I think I would be really upset if I found that myself. Go after them. Keep us posted.
 
As you know both my avatar and sigtag are pic's from Vitolas. I contaced moki before using and he was gracious enough to allow me to do so. Now if some Noob like me can do it then why not a site? ??? If he ever wanted me to stop using his hard earned research, I would cease immediately. Thanks again Andrew, and your hard work is appreciated. :thumbs:
