Hey Kids!

I'm back! Been gone a hell of a long time I know, but that's life these days. Anyway, where the hell can I get a good free spyware killer/blocker onilne?

Spybot and Adaware are the only free ones I know of. They both work pretty well.

I use Adaware & Spybot too.
ALso get Spy Sweeper - it found items the other two didn't.

I ran all three and still can't get rid of all the spyware...

Try Bazooka. Scans and explains how to get spyware out of your registry. It's at Cnet.com.

Just used that Spy Sweeper it found 10 spy programs and eliminated them

I had two viruses and a worm on my system. Got so bad that a family friend had to download spyware-killing stuff from a disk. Never heard of Bazooka, but spybot works wonderfully.

I've found adaware to be most effective. Virus killer that I use is from TrendMicro. Can try it for free. :)

There is also another technique for blocking malicious content before it gets on your computer. There is a file in your System directory called the 'HOSTS' file. This can be used to hard-code DNS tables into a computer.

The trick is to re-direct known ad websites to the localhost. This way the ads do not load as they cannot be found.

Here are some links for more detailed information...

If you're running win98 still run adaware and spybot in safemode and it will do the trick.

I'v been running Spybot and thought I was doing well. :( Downloaded Spy Sweeper just a bit ago and ran it, found 91 spyware that Spybot missed. :0 Total of 91 spyware and 272 traces. Spybot missed just a few....
