Star Trek Lost

Most interesting thing I noticed inthis article is how readily they admitted to watching forums to get "fan reactions."

That said, I'm not a trekkie, so I'm ambivalent. I think it might be OK, if done correctly, but will be very easy to ruin (and destroy their already dwindling fan base).

Like that money grubber Lucas did?

They need to make a movie based on the Deep Space Nine series.

Fo shizzle! I guess a lot of TNG fans didn't like DS9. I loved it! Sure, there were some bad episodes in there, but I liked the story arcs instead of some newfangled contraption or particle or radiation or anomoly every week! I'm not sure what they'd do, but I am sure some creative writer out there could think of something. Perhaps they could bring Sisko back, if even for a special assignment as one of the Prophets?

i've seen every movie made in the series, and i'll have to see this one.

you would think shatner had enough of the kirk sterotype..

Shatner's not involved - it'll be new actors portaying "young" Kirk and Spock.

As for DS9 (and Voyager), I've heard alot of people complain but I liked the few episodes I saw. Like I said, not a trekkie so I've seen only a handful of shows for each (and only first season Voyager) but I should think they would have story potential still.

As for the franchise, if they wanted to re-ignite the flame they should have skipped another couple hundred years past the TNG/DS9/Voyager time and continued into the future of that universe. IMUP

Excellent point. I think they must feel that it's a relatively sure bet to mine the past. After all, they have ST canon to connect up with. It's less risky but also a bit cowardly.

If they were brave, they would render the technology, sets and costumes completely retro to fit with the "pre-Star Trek" timeline, but they won't. They'll make it all new fangled and weird just because it'll be nifty looking.

People are comforted by the past, but challenged and invigorated by the future and on this point I agree with you.

Wouldn't a prequel have Christopher Pike as captain instead of Kirk? Or is it just that the already dry for original ideas Hollywood just continue the cycle of churning out dreck.

I think Travolta's first line of dialog from Swordfish accurately describes modern Hollywood. ;)

And don't even get me started about Lucas... :angry2: Talk about a wasted opportunity!

Yeah...I much prefer him as Denny Crane :D

No Way Man! T.J. Hooker was his best role EVER! :p

Nope, his only good role was in the movie Showtime, playing himself making fun of his TJ Hooker role!

The whole point of this prequel is "Kirk and Spock in Starfleet academy" as far as I can tell from the article.
