My second oldest daughter went away to college last week and my wife has been begging for a larger closet space. So we moved the third oldest daughter into the newly vacated room and cut a section out of the old room she shared with daughter number 4, to create a new walk-in for the wife. Of course I don't get the old walk-in, it will become part of a master bath upgrade next summer. What I do get is the, "You're a good man Charlie Brown" pat on the head (and maybe more sexy time from the wife?).

The plan (not to scale)

Today was day one: One wall, new opening. One opening framed in.
From daughter 3's room.

From wife 2's room.

I figure I can work on this after work each day this week, and can finish up before the end of the coming long weekend. No problem, right?

Just a quick "look at me, look at me" update.

Phases 2 & 3 are complete.

Youngster's bedroom...

Finished, except for closet hardware.

IMO, Not bad for two weekends and one week of evenings after work.

When should I start expecting more sexy time from the wife? :sign:

That turned out really nice... I have a similar project to do that I keep putting off, but maybe this will give me a little motivation!

Just let her go shopping for new stuff to put in the closet, she's already happy so now it's your turn :p

I like your handiwork especially since you did it in carpeted rooms, the construction mess can be hell on a nice shag.

Nothing like doing something yourself, and saving money. Thanks for sharing your pics!

If you can put a chair in a closet it ain't a closet anymore it's a room.

Well crap, that was the mirror reflection. I gots to pay better attention. :0
