I really don't much expereince with Cohibas but a friend of mine gave me a couple of Cohibas this weekend and I was trying to find some info on them but couldn't.

They are a pyramid shape with only the old Cohiba logo and the coloring of the cigar is light, not dark like the EL versions. I suspected they are fakes as I couldn't find any info on them and thought you guys could help.

They actually look like one of the lighest cigars in the old Cohibin Cohiba thread I just read but with the old logo.

Thanks,
Larry

Maybe came from the Seleccion Piramide which includes:

Selection of five top quality pyramids: Cohiba, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, Partagás y Hoyo de Monterrey.

Just a guess.

Ah, yes it does look like the cigar from that set. Has anyone tried these? Looking forward to smoking it. This won't get me addicted to ISOMs, will it :p

Thanks for the help and sorry if it was obvious.

No worries, wasn't THAT obvious. Smoke it and if you like it, try other Habanos and go from there. Good luck.

Keep in mind that the Cohiba in the set has the new bands. If your Cohiba has 2 rows of dots above the word Cohiba, then it is not from this set.

Hmm, got home and took a closer look. There are only 2 rows of dots above the work Cohiba and the cigar measures 7 inches.

Okay, I don't have pics of the cigar, but here is the label (on the top) compared to another Cohiba which I got from another friend (below) over the summer. Seems like all my friends are giving me fake Cohibas.

In the top band the words are centered vertically. I thought they were towards the bottom of the band.

The color on the bottom band is way too orange and the script is really bold.

To educate myself and others, please post comments on these bands.

Thanks,
Larry

The real ones say "Cohiba" in Gold lettering.

Heres a pic of some bands. Sorry about the poor quality.

Yep, those bands did not come from authentic cigars. I'm basing that on the number of rows of dots, and the fact that the lettering for the word "COHIBA" is not gold embossed. I'm not sure if perhaps a really long time ago it was not embossed, but chances are those are fake. Sorry.

edit - I forgot to add that your lower band looks orange in the picture, and that's just weird.

If I remember correctly these were produced about 2 years ago and sold at Habanos festival(Cohiba Pyramids-25 box ct). Only 500 boxes produced.

I just returned from Panama and saw these same style in 2 stores -which of course had the whole EL line. FAKES GALOUR!!!

STORES: Habanos Cafe(Across from Marriott Hotel-Panama City)
La Tradicion del Habana( Across from Crown Casino-Panama city)

If the Cohiba Pyramids are real, your friend is very kind man as these are collector cigars.

Ugh. Those are some pretty bad looking bands. The lower one is especially grotesque but the top one is pretty bad as well. Sorry, but I'm almost 100% certain that these did not come from authentic cigars.

Sorry I didn't , but watched some tourist pay USD$13-20 per stick for some hard ass fake cigars. The El's did not even have the El bands ???

Thanks but the good thing is I didn't have to pay anything for them. I still have to tell my friends they are fake.

Right on. I can't attest to the auction Cohibas but I pulled out my band collection and did a little checking. The top band does look very similar to the band from a 1998 Lanceros.

I wish I had a pic of the cigars but the length of the cigar is 6 7/8. Does that even seem right if it was a Cohiba pyramid.

Well,

The Piramides vitola de galera is 6-1/8" long. But I don't know if authentic Cohibas conform to that.
