The Mother of all Contests!....a true P.I.F.

Midgets are easy to find here.

When are you sending me the prize?

Because everytime someone screws up, the welcoming committee is 3 1/2 minutes behind and i'm usually sitting with popcorn! :sign:

I believe that karma is instant these days. What you put out, you will get back ten fold.

Here's a good example of instant karma...

A couple of hours ago jonesy and I are discussing a package that I should be getting and we agree that he (Brian #2) will run a competition for this package...great competition BTW Brian #2

I just cleared my mailbox and guess what I found? You got it, an amazing selection of fine sticks from my good friend Wilkey. Honestly, I got chills up the back of my neck thinking about Karma.

Thank you Wilkey, you and folk like you, epitomize what CP is all about. You give of yourself, advice, help and you share your fine collection of sticks.

This my friends is an example of what makes CP such a great place

Brian

There are many things that make CP special. But the overwhelming fact is that it provides a haven for people with similar passion to share, experience and learn about cigars and other people who otherwise may not cross paths.

Cigarpass....where else could a Dodger fan and a Giant fan (Putz Mulligan) sit down together with some cigars and form a friendship. It just goes against nature. But seriously, I have made some friends here that I otherwise would not have if not for this board. Thanks Rod for making this place and thanks to all the SoCal herf crew for the good times. Charlie, when are you comming back up here brother?

This is Lions sleeping with the Lambs, very true for the holiday season!

As to when in LA? I'm here now in Loma Linda though it's more Inland Empire.

Nice contest Brian...............

As for CP, well you're here aren't you?

Alright, here's mine. I had just gotten into cigars back in February....so what does one do, search the internet for online shops. Lo and behold I come across CigarPass. I lurked for a few weeks before deciding to join since I've never been a member of an online community before. I thought to myself, what's the hype with a site like this, getting a little knowledge, finding a decent deal or two? I didn't take me long to find out the true meaning of CigarPass. It's a Brotherhood....a Brotherhood that treats the members like family. I've never seen such generosity wether it be in the form of people that don't know one another from squat sending a box with $50-$100 worth of cigars in it, auctions being held to help a Brother in need out, or someone to remain nameless just out of the blue sending me a year long subscription to C.A. It took me a while to realize what was really going on here. There's a sacred bond here between people that you just don't see in everyday life....and what makes it so great is that 95% of the people here have never met face to face. Those that do get to meet face to face treasure those moments. When I met jfields, CigarStone, Mysterea, and Seth, It felt like I had known them forever....especially John. He and I will talk on the phone like a couple of old women....but I'm proud to call him my friend. When you think of the internet, you think of a screen that tells you the days scores or news, I look at it as a way to keep in touch with my friends that just don't live down the block from me, I look at it as a way to glean information from those that have been there and done that, I look at it as a way to interact with people of all walks of life that treat me like I'm a normal human being. It's not easy walking into a store with my nine year old son and having little kids whisper to their parents "Mommy, look at that bad man, he has lots of tattoos" ....sometimes I wish I could just blend into the crowd....here, I'm accepted for the man that I am....not the man that I look like or am stereotyped as. I've had my Asshat moments, but I'm man enough to say that I have. The great thing is, being welcomed back into the fold like the prodigal son after something like that has happened. CP is special to me because of the special people that i call this place home with....and hope to do for a long time.

You know, I suppose the trite response would be to post a long-winded sermon on the many subjects that most have already discussed; camaraderie, fellowship, integrity, common bonds, generosity, information, correspondence, and of course, cigars.

However, if I look the foundation of what truly creates the importance of this community, I feel that is is, without a doubt, the much welcome escape and warmth from a world that is sadly lacking the aforementioned qualities in so many different walks of life. I'm only 22 and have been a member of the site for a month-- my life and CP community experiences have a long way to go, but I can assure you that this place has already proved itself to be an incredible experience in bonding, smoking, and sharing with your fellow man.

It's really that simple.

Oh... and my work internet is too slow to stream porn. That makes this place pretty important :D.

Why is Cigar Pass Special to me? I’ve only been a member for a week and a half but I feel like I am already becoming a part it.

- I am waiting for whatever goodies Geldor1 has sent me in the Newbie Sampler Trade.
- I just PM’d AKmik for specifics on part of his Vinotemp setup.
- I snarfed a Coke through my nose while I watched a FOG (B.B.S.) smack down a wandering shill.
- I am starting to follow the various passes out there to get a feel for them.
- I am having a great time clowning on the boards.
- And I am learning more about one of my favorite activities every day.

What’s so special about that?

How many other organizations, clubs, or groups provide that much opportunity to a total stranger to immediately engage in an already vibrant community while really only asking that they be respectful of others while they have fun?
Answer: 0

That sort of active encouragement right out of the gate to get involved and take part in the camaraderie is actually quite rare on the Web and, to me anyway, that’s pretty damn special.

CigarPass is special to me because it showed me how to be a better person in life.

Because this is my first cigar board, this is the place where I've learned looots of thing about cigars. This is the place that taught me how to enjoy cigar, how to love this hobby and how to make it spreading among my friends. Thanks of CP I've decided to start my own and THE First in Poland cigar board. Inderectly CP also helped me to have my board first whole Poland herf few weeks ago with about 35 users! Succes! For me CP is also special because Ive learned that You dont have to wear a tie to smoke a cigar (yes, its a stereotype at least here) You dont have to be a politics or a star, cigars are for everyone, for these who enjoyes them!

I've been on the net since back when 300 BAUD modems were the fastest thing around. I've been involved heavily in 'online society' and forums (previously BBS's). In all this time (going on 22 years!) I've never seen a collection of people so clearly dedicated to the 'cause', each other and the art of kicking ass. The generosity and brotherhood found on this community has been inspiring and humbling to me. As such, I've become a better person because of it.

Thanks
Rob

This is a great contest...gotta love the PIF and owning up to ones own mistakes-IMO this shows the caliber of people we have here...However, I'm too new to have a good answer since I'm still learning the community.

*quietly leaves topic to start searching for why this is such a great forum*

EDIT - *damn it...I just realized this post is fluff and does not meet the "read more post less" mantra*

Great contest.........kudos to you both!

Having been a member of private clubs and various organizations I can honestly say that this is the only place in which there is a motivation toward others rather than a motivation toward self!

Cigarpass wasn't my first board, nor has it been my only board. Out of curiosity, I've checked out quite a few. However, I always come back - this is where my friends and Brothers are. Here, I can seek counsel, and give it. Here, I can make jokes and be the subject of them without getting angry. I can ask about a cigar or how to rebuild a carburator. I can't think of anyone active here, even noobs, that I wouldn't "send first" to and worry about. We have all this without moderators, and with rare intervention from our host. Most boards this size require extinsive moderation to remain functional. This is CigarPass.

I personally believe that CigarPass is great because uh, some people out there on our internet don't have cigars and I believe that our members like, such as Matt R and uh the Smokyballs and others everywhere like such as and, I believe that they should send cigars over here in the Colorado and this would help the CigarPass and would help the online forums so we would be able to build up our future.

You forgot "for our children." :whistling:  Classic!!! Smart a*s!

Too funny  and no maps in Iraq and such.

I found this forum because of its pipe page, which at the time I was 80% pipe smoker 20% cigar smoker. For a few months I did nothing but venture out onto the other boards, I read passes, cigar reviews (which lead to buying some GREAT cigars), coolidor build instructions and questions about "Is this mold or plume?”. I also read about peoples lives here in the lobby, birthdays, birth of children, weddings, support for our troops, jokes, and everyday stories. This is why I joined. When I became a member it was in the hopes that I too could feel the way that I assumed most you feel when you get replies from friends on this board. Since then I have had moments where I have been laughing till I had tears in my eyes, I've been humbled and I've also experienced the generosity of many you. It’s been a constant learning experience and I have grown as a person from being a member. CigarPass for me is like a friend that is only as far away as my laptop.

Thank you Rod for giving us a platform, thank you members for breathing life into a website.
