I haven't registered yet. It looks like it has to be done in teams of 5, and individuals. As far as a name, I'd like to do something with Cigar Pass, like CigarPass' Inglorious Bastages or something funny. Also, I think it'd be neat if Rod could hook us up with some shirts to wear at the run!! :whistling:

If that is the case then our team should only be CP'ers (assuming we have 5). The rest like my son and his friend can go as individuals or form a second team.

Sure would be great photo ops for Rod to take pictures of the team wearing CP attire ;)

We need to register and there is a no refund policy. Since it will save a $13.00 processing fee to mail the registration form in rather than register online, I want to get it in asap. If no other CP'ers step forward we can substitute with Jon's friend or my son, either way is fine by me. We just need to get this finalized, we have only 40 days until the event.

Please PM me your first and last name, age and T-shirt size (S, M, L, XL, XXL)

I will send the payment in and you can reimburse me by mail or at the event, whatever is more convenient.

I don't know if it helps but I've been to one of these and can offer a few tips.

My wife did the Pendleton Mud Run about 6 years ago and I went as a spectator (I ride bikes and play hockey but I hate running!). My wife and her friend finished mid pack and had a great time. We stayed in a hotel the night before so that they were rested and ready.

If you wear team shirts they'll be throw aways by the time you finish, you'll be mudded out head to toe. I remember that they used duct tape to tape their shoes to their feet and ankles (like you'd wrap a gymnast foot) to prevent their shoes from being sucked off in the mud. They also wore nylon type shorts and shirts similar to the Climatech or Nike Fit Dry to keep the water and mud off. After the run, they took a shower, changed and threw the clothes in a trash bag.

They said that it kicked their butts but it was a lot of fun.

Hey guys.

I've been holding off sending the registration in because we still need a 5th team member. I will put my son in unless someone else comes forward with the gonads to join us! :D (Jon, what about your friend?_

I don't want to wait too much longer in case the event sells out (they say they will sell out but I doubt they'd turn people away from a charity event).

So far the team name I have down on the app is "Cigarpass.com - Southern California Herfers" for lack of a better one.

Assuming Rod approves of the use of the site name and if nobody comes forward with another/better/more fun/interesting name I'll go with the generic.

Anyone else?? If I have no more takers from CP to come forward I will send the application in on Monday.

Is everybody still on board for this?? ??? I'm running two miles every other day, and am gonna bump it up to 3 next week. :thumbs:

Edit to add: FYI I will be gone the preceding week before this run... Uh oh, this should be interesting... Vacation time + Mud Run = Choosing between pissed off wife or pissed off Sergeant. I'll figure it out...

I'm hiking/running 3.5 miles at least 4 days a week. DavidRat is in, got his registration fee in the mail already. My son and his friend are in and I believe BArias4641 is still in. I haven't heard him say otherwise.

David, I am still on for this as is my son and his friend. Jon (Soulpup)had to bail because he wimped out when his boss said no to him taking the day off :D. I heard from BArias and he is all-in so we are definitely a go for the event.

The application and payment have been submitted and I talked to the organizer yesterday by phone. They currently have about 2,500 entrants so it looks to be a great day to play in the mud!

Team Cigarpass.com will consist of;

Me, the DesertRat, aka "the old guy"

DavidRat representing the older than some but not as old as DesertRat crowd

BArias4642 representing the middle aged

My son, Sean and his friend Art (ages 17 and 18), will be the team motivators and will be responsible for dragging our tired, old, muddy asses across the finish line.


Anyone who wishes to come and cheer us on is more than welcome (please bing an oxygen bottle and defibrillator) :D
