I really am impressed with the enthusiam in which these guys responded and am also a little disappointed with the other 3 but that's beside the point.
These guys wanted to show the community that they are above what has been going on recently and really want to become active members here at CP without being lumped in with the ones that have been shown the door lately.
Buy someone a notch cigar every week or be lumped into the group of people who got chased out the door?
I know everyone in this forum doesn’t have that option so I’m not going to hold it against the forum.
Like I told Jonsey If people are going to run me off or put me down for being a newbie, I don’t want anything to do with them anyway. And I sure as hell am not going to buy them expensive cigars so they don’t mess with me or run me off.
This forum is about cigars and consuming and storing cigars it is a social thing this is not trading million dollar cigar production secrets, it about sharing consumer knowledge on a hobby correct me if I wrong.
I seems like Jonsey and a few of you guys take this a little too serious.
I just joined to read about cigars make and some friends. I don’t care about moving up some social latter or having some guy with abizillion posts think I’m cool.
I just wanted to give a little feed back because it made me feel like some guy was fleecing the new guys for cigars in the name of the group and acting like he will put people down if they don’t but into his game. A lot of us have families and bills and don’t have extra money every week to be playing games like this. And some of us just might not want to play.
Welcome to CP buy us cigars or be in a category that gets run out.
Have fun with that Jonsey.

Sorry you feel that way birdd. Only you can determine to participate or not, no one else. Jonesy mentioned that he was "disappointed with the other 3" because it's fun to do not because you need to buy your way into membership here. It is not a requirement for membership.

If you have not noticed, there are BOTLs sending ordinance in all directions including some of those the have a lot of posts and those that don't have many posts. They do so out of generostiy and are not self serving but rather paying it forward which is the code that everyone lives by here. It does not matter how much money you make, where you live or how many kids you have. We are all just BOTLs and SOTLs sharing the cigar smoking experience.

Sit back relax and enjoy.

AMEN BROTHER!!!!

1) Buy someone a notch cigar every week or be lumped into the group of people who got chased out the door?I know everyone in this forum doesn’t have that option so I’m not going to hold it against the forum.

1) That's not what this about at all. You were the only one that seems to think this way

2) Nobody puts anybody down for being a newbie, they get put down for being an asshole.

3)Damn right I take this seriously

4) I didn't realize my purpose in this was to "fleece" anyone. Ask a few people around here if they've ever thought that happened to be my intention in anything, beit a bomb, a pass, a P.I.F.,....I bet you can't find one. BTW, I have a family, bills, work 48 to 72 hours a week......and this isn't a "game" we're playing here. And what exactly is it you're trying to say with that last comment? So, before you decide to call me out with this bullshit, I suggest you realize what you're talking about and get your facts straight. Less than 2 months and you're catagorizing me as someone trying to take advantage of newbies and take their cigars?!?! Screw You.

Birdd, you asked that we correct you if you are wrong, well... you are being corrected. You completely missed the mark.

This site is about cigars and about sharing a love of everything about the hobby/lifestyle of cigars. One of the primary parts of that lifestyle is the friendship and camraderie that we all share -- and PIF'ing (Paying It Forward) is one way we do that. It is not expected, requested or required of ANY member, new or old. But most of us enjoy it. That's why we do it. I enjoy giving cigars to fellow brothers of the leaf (BOTLs) more than I enjoy receiving them.

Your comment to jonesy is way off base. You may not understand why just yet, but hang around awhile and you will in time. IMO, an apology is owed to him and the board.

Yowza. Taking it a little too seriously, birdd. I do understand where you're coming from though. If it is not in your means or manner to do so, then do not bomb. Seriously, no one will hold it against you. Jonesy tells it like it is.

Speaking for myself, when I send one, I do not expect to gain favor. Neither do I provide favor when I receive one. Really, aside from it being an expression of personal esteem, the other primary function a bomb serves is to open lines of communications. It's a way of saying "I'm here, I wanna thank you, and keep it up." That's really all there is to it.

If the sender is an ass, even getting a box of Sharks from him isn't going to make him seem any less of an ass. In fact, it's going to highlight an obvious attempt to ingratiate himself.

Participate, contribute, and respect your fellow community members. If there are any requisites to achieving membership in good standing, these three things would be among them.

I agree 100%

That post was totally uncalled for Birdd.
This is not what this community is about at all.
As for not being able to afford sending bombs. I can tell you I am not a high wage earner, and if and when I choose to send somebody on this board a package it usually costs me my weekly spending money as well as the cost of my overpriced cigars. And I certainly do not expect anything in return. The simple act of giving something that you know someone will appreciate is repayment enough for me.
Unfortunately in our society there is a lot of taking and not much giving. A lot of people seem to think the world owes them something, which is totally wrong.

Well this is not the case in this community at all

If Jonesy and his ragtag army want to hit people with packages he is doing so not to gather browny points, kudos or freinds, he is doing it as he is a giving person, not a taker.

I too feel you owe this community and especially jonesy an apology, and I look forward to reading it.

BTW, what is a "notch" cigar? ???

It's like, when you got lucky that one time, and you carve a... ahh shit, I don't know either.

Look Bbird, this seems to happen alot when someone jumps into these forums, perhaps because it's so unusual to find such a community.

You seem to have jumped in at a bat time, which doesn't help, though humility might. That's some words of wisdom right there.

Brian is a man I've met face to face, and before that online, and I'll tell ya I'm proud to know em.
He's the kind of dude who gives because he can, and as soon as he's done with that he tries again. I'm sorry that you don't conceptualize that, but it's okay, we were all new once. Just know that alot of folks around here know him, and not you.
I'd suggest reading http://www.cigarbbguide.com/ and poking around a bit, chill out and see what happens. Who knows? you might learn sumthin!

Cheers,
Rob

Stop jacking our thread....We were having a grand 'ol time until you came....

Next time plz make your own and please stay out of this one....Thank you very much

Sometimes, I just do not get it....

Jonesy, you are on the right track, this is a awesome gesture of goodwill.
And, to the newer members, I am sure you are taking part in this for ALL THE RIGHT REASONS, I cast no doubt at anyone, keep it up fellas! It is good to see that there is a new generation that "Gets it".

Birdd, it is simple, this was done out of friendship, and the spirit of fun. Most of us new members have a 1 or 23 different Senior Members on this board that have gone above and beyond to reach out and help us. If this is not the case with all new members, then I submit that those newer members are doing something wrong. There is no way that the kindness showed to us (newer members) aka Fugghin Noobs, could ever be repaid in full. But, an event like the PIF Bomb II shows everyone that us noobs understand, we "get it" as it is so often said around here. By sending a few packages to a couple of people, everyone in our, dare I call it a family, everyone get some sort of repayment, (I know repayment is not the right word, but its 4am and I can't think of anything else) it lets the noobs feel like a bigger part of the community because they get to imitate those family elders aka Fugghin Old Guys (FOG) that they look up to, and it lets the FOG's see that this place will survive in the future because there are those that have the spirit and the heart to take their place.

OK? Do you get it? It is not about money, hell if all you had was one Dutch Master, and you sent it to me out of friendship, I would be proud to fire it up, and I bet that that selfless act would be repaid 3 times over.....Karma man Karma

You really should apologize to Jonsey, I think you just didn't understand the motivation of his actions, and you missed the mark when posted.

Birdd, you have only been a member for what 25 days now, if you search into the archives you will see what everyone here is talking about.
