The Sopranos

I thought that Epi 2 was great. You have to be a huge fan to really understand all of the symbolism involved in the episode.

I think the entire episode was sort of a look at how Tony could have ended up had he not chosen the life of the mob. Successful businessman, happy family (remember the phone message from the family), but a weaker person (like the crying when he was slapped in the face).

And remember the lighthouse that keeps on popping up? I think that has alot of symbolism in the fact that he has been trying to find his way and place in the family, and he is going to have to do alot more of that very soon since Junior is probably going to jail or going to be whacked - possibly by A.J., which makes his character much more interesting, especially since he has dropped out of school, much like Tony.

Watch this episode again if you get a chance, because it is one of the most complex episodes of The Sopranos I have ever seen, and one of the best dream sequence episodes I remember...

...obviously a huge Sopranos fan...

I agree 100%. The second episode was well made and has opened several doors for the rest of the season. Something tells me things are gonna start to happen.

I guess only someone of your superior fan power would understand all the symbolism  :p

Seriously, I get it all, and obviously after the last 3 or 4 boring seasons, I'd have to be a huge fan to be still watching.

We had plenty of symbolism in the first 2 seasons, it just was a lot more entertaining.

:sign:

Much better this week, although what makes think big boy think he's up for the next boss

If they didn't pull him out of the coma this week, I was gonna boycott the show. Talk about a fucking waste of time with all that dream shit. Who cares? This crap with the movie thing again is going to make me puke. I don't remember what year it was but when Chis started with that crap it ruined a couple of episodes.

Paulie and his buddy wacking those guys and making a mess was a great way to start the show, it went down hill after that though.

Yes this weeks episode was good. I thought Meadow looked pretty good as usual.....in one of those scenes it looks like she was rather cold ;)....hahaha

I have to agree that the dream scenes were took up way too much time. I enjoyed this weeks show, but last weeks seemed like a total waste of an episode.

Just watched week 3 last night and I think things are about to heat up.

I think Vito convinces Phil Leotardo to take his revenge for his little brothers killing out on Meadow's fiancee which ultimately leads to Vito swimming with the fishes!

How come Tony heard Meadow's voice in the dream while he was standing outside the mansion, but he couldn't hear Pauly Walnuts' voice? :whistling:

How come Tony couldn't get group health coverage for all the boys in his crew through no-show jobs with their waste hauling company? His wife made it sound like they needed their cut from the robbery for medical expenses. :whistling:

How come nobody likes the dream sequences? I'll bet you guys REALLY hated the Wizzard of Oz. :D

I think he could hear Paulie - remember when he was bangin on the wall telling the guy in the next room to shut up?

The helth care is weird to me too. When Benny was in the hospital last season, he said it would be taken care of through the union health plan.

I actually don't dislike the dreams as much as everyone else. I thought these dreams with him as Kevin Finnerty were kind of funny.

edited because I messed up the quote

Is it me or is the Sopranoes getting worse and the Shield kicking ass?

I think the Sopranos came back strong this past week, as far as the Shield goes, this was the best season so far IMHO.

Anyone catch Thief last night?

I also think the Sopranos came back strong. This should be a great season.

I watched Thief - pretty good - from the previews, it looks to be a good show. I set my TiVo season pass for it.

Man I am jelous i have to wait for it to come out on dvd and I love the sopranos.

I can't wait to see that fat f&*k Vito get capped! And why the hell does he think he'll get to be boss? Did I miss something here? I think he ought to head back to the construction site for a little somethin' somethin', if you know what I mean. Then he ought to get a round in the back of the head!

Man, how can anyone think the sopranos is getting worse. Each episode is building more and more suspense towards the breakdown in the loyalty of the family, and the outer family war that's about to happen.

I can say this... if the season continues to build like it is... the sopranos finale will be one of the best in history.

Vito didn't think he'd be boss... he's starting to think he should be boss... will play a major role down the line.

Man, the disrespect showing among the mafia family in this episode was thick...

The season has been great so far. Episode 3 was gut wrenching for myself personally with the family around the hospital bed and Meadow's cries for her father. Brought back too many emotions that our own family recently went through. The writing and acting is very strong and the interactions with all the family members and crew in the hospital scenes were very well done. I can't wait to see how this season unfolds.

The first three episodes have been outright masterpieces. It's not too often you see developed and realized existentialism on television, Chase is right on the ball. No offense intended here, but the Sopranos isn't Rambo or porn, so if you watch if for the Bing girls or mafia hits, you aren't going to fully appreciate the show. This is shaping up to be the best season so far, the first three episodes are really epic and it's nice to see HBO keep pushing smart TV, even if it doesn't have the appeal of say, 24 (which I watch and adore, there's a time and mood for everything).

Speaking of, I know a lot of people like the CAO Sopranos cigar series, but give me a break. All the gimmicks and shit, who ever in the CAO organization that has an MBA in Marketing needs to get the axe. I've always seen the non-mainstream, non-commercial aspects of cigar life and cigar smoking as one of its attraction (I mean, what would "you people" say to a Desperate Housewives Chardonnay or a "Punk'd" microbrew?).

I must admit that one of my favorite scenes is The Mercedes driving down the sidewalk (several years back) and hitting that guy. The guys jumping out and kicking the crap out of the guy right in front of the building. Pay up sukka!!!
Classic Sopranoes!
