I have a B&M that I frequent because I have a friend that works there and he usually gives me a decent deal on cigars. The place is located in a mall and the prices reflect that fact usually $1-$2 over MSRP. He got the same allotment of Anejo's that most shops got...1 box of each. They sold out quickly.

Well, Monday I was shopping and stopped in for a smoke to kill time with. It was close to closing. When I walked in the humidor in the corner of my eye I saw some tell tale boxes. There they were 3 boxes of Sharks, 2 48's, 2 46's and 2 55's. Checking the prices(I knew they would be high) he had each box priced at $288.80. While this was high, I wanted the Sharks (of course) but I knew that my friend would be working the following morning. leaving I called him and asked him to set me a box aside and I would be in on Wednesday to pick them up from him, he had no problem doing that.

Wednesday comes and I stop in after work. He says "I got that box for you, what did you say the price was?" I told him and he said "Look at them now." He held the box of Sharks up and it had a price tag of $550 on it! I was flabbergasted! Of course I said "no thanks!" He said "No I will give them to you for the original price we talked about." which was nice.....I checked the rest of the boxes and every box was priced at $550 or $25 per single (yeah, I know, that makes sense). Needless to say I know where I will not be going any time soon. BTW, his cost on the Sharks was $176. But there is a box resting comfortably in my humi.

-D

-Please don't PM me wanting any....these are going down for a long rest......but I do know where there is another for $550 but I ain't buying it.

Damn, my local B&M did something similar (calling and then coming down and getting a different price) and their prices are just as high.

I like many here am a Fuente Whore! I'll chase at all times but I'm unwilling to buy from the gougers of the world!

i was guna say somthing but wasy's avatar and sig made me for get... somthing about gougers and fuente or clowns maybe

I thought the Fuente family wants people to report the gougers?

I'd turn them in without a second thought, even if my friend worked there. He won't lose his job, but the owner might get his pecker wacked by Carlito & Co.

Anything above $230 for a box of Sharks (20 in a box), is gouging.

I agree though, wasy's avatar and sig  ...well, let's just say...for everything else their's MasterCard.

Unfortunately he is a "personal" friend of Mr. Suarez....that is how he got so many boxes..............

Still needs to be reported. He is taking advantage of his "friendship" with Mr. Suarez to screw over "his" cigar smokers.

Makes me wonder how far his friendship will carry if people complain.

If Casa Fuente can charge what they do and have the Fuente name, what makes anyone think they will care about a B&M somewhere out there selling Sharks way over MSRP?

I agree. Where can someone report gouging on Fuente products? Like I mentioned before, a b&m I recently went to tried to sell me a box of 858's for $800.

Kiss my ass.

I'm sure I've read an official policy statement about gougers from Fuente, but I might be wrong and it was Padrón instead. Its linked somewhere here at CP, but since the new search sucks dead donkey, I can't find it.

Excellent point. The Fuente family do NOT enforce MSRP, which is a shame. It's like politics, when you are powerful enough you can do what you want.
As IH says...kiss my ass!

My local guy says the same thing, and gets MANY boxes of Opus, but in the past 4-5 years, I've never seen one on the shelves, but the owner's always smoking one!
