Their Mods. quit

   ,  :whistling: That thread is hilarious. Thank you Rod for not getting involved in that debacle.

Oh come on fellas, doesn't it feel nice to be validated. The high road indeed. It's a pleasure to see Kaputo fail after the lies he told about Rod.
edited to add missing preposition.
Doc.
I'm with Doc on this, 100%, minus the missing preposition. As much as I'd like to take the high road, I am getting serious enjoyment on being vindicated by those motivated by money and greed. That seams to be a theme lately. Maybe Joe should have learned from Wall Street.

I don't think it has anything to do with accidents. I think many of us like to see Karma run its course. Restores my faith in the grand scheme of things.

Doc.
This.

I enjoy a little schadenfreude as much as the next guy (if not more) and I don't know anything about those communities or the people within them so perhaps on some level they may be deserving of this whole calamity, but I can't help but feel bad for all of the members who I see as the real losers in the grand scheme of things. I'm delighted to see this Caputo character keep stepping in it deeper and deeper, but there's a lot of unfortunate collateral damage to his dunderheaded masterplan. His foolish notion of one forum to unite them all has ended up splintering the communities he thought he could simply purchase and remodel as a way to get richer.

It's always satisfying to see someone spit in a disingenuous blowhards mouth.

Well, it seams like the Mods are leaving to build another board. I'd bet a dollar that it will be as close to Stogie-whatever, as possible and so the board will basicly up and move. I dont see the collateral damage as a disatorus thing. Their board will survive, just under a new name.

That's funnier than the pic that made you famous! ;) Nice job!

I went over to ClubStogie to warn about Tobacco World's gouging and they turned it into an 11 page thread on bashing me. I lost respect for that place after that. All I can say about there loss of mods is...

That sh*t is

I dunno, but the jury is still out on this one for me. Seriously. I mean, I know quite a few other hobby boards which have loads and loads of advertising banners and those boards are very respected for their content. CoffeeGeek comes to mind on this, but there are others as well. I also know a few home theater/audio boards which not only have loads of advertising banners, but also charge a fee to members to access special "members' only deal" sections of their boards. avsforum comes to mind, for one. Those boards are also rich with quality member content - and all of theoe boards are extremely busy with membership across the globe. Numbers that surpass any cigar board activity I have ever seen. Oh, and when I say these boards have advertising banners, I mean all over the place. Much more than the advertising strip at the top of CigarPass.

What I'm trying to say is, large conglomerate boards can and do work. Whether they can work for cigar boards remains to be seen. I have no idea what those other hobby boards I referenced above were like before they became giant behemoths of activity and commercialism. The sense of community inherent in each purchased cigar board would likely be lost. But members could benefit from targeted marketing. Kinda like how members of this board get in on fantastic deals from other members who are also retailers. I just scored on such a fantastic deal here myself. Maybe the large manufacturers, or anyone in the supply side, might be more compelled to offer amazing deals to a core audience of massive membership numbers.

I don't know, guys. I really don't. Without a doubt change is in the books for the purchased boards. I can only say that I like forums such as CoffeeGeek and avsforum and also respect the passion and knowledge of their considerably sized membership base. I look to them, and others like them, when I seek knowledge of their respective hobbies. Those boards - and their members - have yet to fail me in politely addressing my questions and dispensing great advice. But always search first.

And FWIW, and in my opinion, this thread is a public service if tastefully done and is sans any cross board bashing. This will affect the cigar board world in some fashion. We just don't know how yet. It's good to stay abreast of our hobby wherein it could affect us. If for no other reason than some of the exodus will start showing up on Cigar Pass en masse, it will have an effect.

Best to you, Rod, for keeping to your guns. This board is yours to sell, if you wish. Yet, they are often referred to as labors of love. I fail to see how the owners who sold did not envision the erosion of their communities for the sake of commercialism. Nobody floats out that kinda coin all at once without some plan to recoup.

What you fail to see is that the leadership/ownership of those boards is what is being torched. Not the board/membership... well, most of the membership. Also, it is a public service regardless of how it's done since it's in a censorless environment here. This thread couldn't exist at those places because of their alternate reality policies. Who gives a crap what his plan was or how much money he invested? That blowhard told a big fat hairy lie and has yet to address it. That's the rub.

I have done nothing but post facts and straight news about the recent developments. Our friends however, Jon and Daniel, have decided to personally attack me and my character - that I won't stand for.

I'm still waiting for Jon Caputo to come over here and prove his accusations against me, and prove that I "fabricated" those emails. I have emailed both Jon and Daniel, though they continue to ignore me. Why anyone would want to be part of a community which is based upon lies and deception is beyond me - everyone who is in denial will soon see Jon and Daniels true colors.

Who really cares if Jon is out to make a buck; his lies and bashing of me is something I will not tolerate.

The funny thing is that both of my boys are huge Thomas fans, and we actually have the toys in the picture.

I would let it go Rod. If he's going to stoop to lying there is no way he's going to be honest enough to appologize. Take a little comfort in knowing that the xxxx members of CP know that you are honest and respectable and don't let Jon's BS weigh you down.

I'll give you honest, but respectable? Have you ever seen him in his nurse's costume? :sign:

Love ya Rod!

Being an occasional poster on Coffeegeek as well, I'd tend to say that it has many of the same characteristics of cigarpass - a set of community standards, an owner/moderator in Mark Prince that is active in the hobby/calling, and a fairly active membership. That said, I prefer CP to CG; there's more continuity and a smaller set of active members.

Is this still an issue?

What is "this"?
There still remains an "issue", however the persons that need to address it are the ones that refuse to do so. To not address the "issue" will speak loudly of their honesty and integrity.

Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it.

The "this" I'm speaking of is about the original post in this thread and not what is going on between Rod and Caputo. I would have sent you a PM but since your mailbox is full.....
