Not necessarily Marine related but I live near an Army base, Ft. Sill in Lawton, OK and last night was the first time in several months that the big guns were firing. With all the storms we have been having at first I thought it was thunder, and then the occasional vibrations started. Good thing I am in the opposite direction of the firing range. I got to see several Helicopters doing maneuvers today at lunch.

I've seen some tight assed commands, and some not so tight. Our CO allowed us to load two torpedo tubes with duty free booze when the boat was scheduled to transit from Guam to Hawaii. Locked, of course, and the contents could be easily jettisoned if needed, but still quite a risky thing for him to allow.

I just don't ken a command allowing this on a chopper, given the possibility of offending the wrong Arabs.
