Cigar DJ
I look at the difference a year can make first then some the lesions I have learned next.
I was purchasing cigars from an online source – Mike at MD cigars and he pointed me here and said there is a great group that can use some new members here. I showed up and read a few of the posts and the section on what a Cigar pass was.
After about a week of browsing I signed up, my cigar experience prior to that point was with a couple of buddies I have, they would occasionally share a decent cigar with me.
I had a Humidor that sat idle for about 2 years it was stocked with some Thompson things and a few Ok cigars. It always looked neat and orderly – I didn’t partake in cigars that often. Maybe a few times a month at the most.
When I signed up I was welcomed by a few folks, Jeff – Matt –Vern & Big Worm and Dave and Kenny and some others. It was pretty cool I started reading the site on a pretty regular basis. Then it was time to take the plunge and try and join a pass. I was quite worried about making puts – I drove to all the cigar shops I could find and bought 3 and 4 sticks of each brand I thought to be pretty decent smokes. I then started buying more gars online and such..
I got into my first pass and when it arrived it was now a new world. I saw cigars that I only could read about or hear about on the boards. I did the takes and puts carefully and posted the actions. I carefully shipped out the pass. It was a success – I was hooked at that point. This site has always been my home-base, I began to explore the other boards.
Joined most of them – using the same nick name – I decided to always use the same nickname for simplicity and credibility. In November last year our family had a major issue and I experienced an emotional /nervous break down we could not even round up food and I lost it totally. Some of the guys here helped us beyond words at that time.
The entire segment turned into a BB fiasco across a couple of the other boards. Through that whole incident the guys here at CP where kind and caring it really impacted me and my family in a way I cannot truly explain.
To be continued.
