Today's Smoke 2025

‘04 VR Unicos - loved these since the first one I smoked and this one was terrific. Right off the bat I got marzipan with salty nougat on retro. So lush and fragrant with some floral notes as well. Later some citrus and sourdough. Fresh baked like my gramm used to make. The aroma is absolutely intoxicating. Fully focused on this smoke sensation at this point. For such a great tasting cigar won’t hold its ash worth a damn until the second half. Smoke so dense and chewy you just want to hold it in your mouth. Nursed this sucker for almost 2 hours. A real finger burner. Magnificent full body after dinner smoke.

Ok. I would not go order this. BUT … if you find a great deal at JR like I recently did with a LE Crownded Heads, toss a box of JR Ulitimate Roschschilds in with your order. Great short smoke. Don’t go looking for them but to add to something else? Can’t go wrong. I got a fiver and wish it was a box.

Many many years ago I ordered a box of their Cab 40s after someone here said it was a solid stick after about a years rest. That was spot on and I have a couple left from that box. I had one recently.

I cant speak for anything made recently but thats my $0.02.

Hmmmm. First of my 8-day foray to try all the regular production AVO cigars. The Syncro South American RITMO toro. 6x54.

Nice cigar and I’m no fine palate guy, I’m not sure I’d reload this. Coffee, chocolate of course, nutty creamy, medium-bodied little black pepper on the retrohale, but not much. An enjoyable “comfortable” smoke, good construction, draw, and burn. But for the price, while enjoyable, just not that interesting. There’s no WOW there for me given its price.

I like it, quite a bit, actually. But if I never had another one I don’t think I’d miss it. This is funny to me since they used, I think, tobaccos from 7 different countries. I’d expect more from a cigar like that, esp for the price point. #1 in my 8-Avo foray was just OK. Looking forward to better from the others.

Edit: burn issue halfway through. Had to correct and relight. This one is a dud for me. 1-cigar sample to be sure, could be unfair. But … NEXT!

Edit2: more burn issues. Total dud. Having trouble finishing this one.

Edit3: got tired of relighting it. Didn’t finish.

How long did you dry box it? FWIW all my burn issues went magically away when my storage went from 70 to 65. Me thinks it needed some more time.

I had a Caldwell that was a problem child in a recent purchase and the others from that bunch will spend some extra time acclimating.
