Davidoff Aniversario Double R

Got so busy at work yesterday that I never got around to posting this. Davidoff Signature, courtesy of the amazing @wrussell46 . Only my second Davidoff, amd the first was very early in my cigar experience. At the time I was really only smoking the heaviest cigars I could find, and I remember not getting much out of that first Davidoff. My tastes have definitely evolved since then, and I've really started to appreciate milder cigars. This one was an absolute game changer, and I suspect that this is going to lead to me spending entirely too much money in the near future. 🤣View attachment 109075View attachment 109076

Been spending some more time with the Alec Bradley Magic Toast, and it’s a blend I really enjoy. My experience with it has been a bit hit-or-miss, though, mainly burn lines that took a left at Albuquerque and draws so tight it felt like trying to drink a milkshake through a tiny straw.

For storage, I keep my humidor around 66°F and 65% RH. After poking around online, I found several people recommending dry boxing to help with similar issues, so I decided to give it a try. Before putting it in the dry box, I checked it with a deep V-cut already in place. The foot was reading 52% RH, and the head was around 61% RH.

Wow, what a difference it made. The draw opened up dramatically compared to my test before dry boxing. Burn lines stayed much straighter, and the flavors came across as far more distinct rather than feeling muddled together. It honestly felt like a completely different cigar.

This was one of those “aha” smokes where something finally clicks and you realize how much storage and prep can completely change the experience.

Well, tried something new. I’m in Big Bend and didn’t have a lot of time to enjoy a full Parti 898 yesterday (wind, Astro photography, long hike). So I decided I would cut the 898 in half (I’ve heard of people doing this). Let’s just say what a treat. Just finished the first half.
