Whats your experience with torches? I've had a Colibri and a Blazer, both lasted less than a year. Is there an economical torch out there that consistently performs?

My blazer is still going strong at about the one year mark, and I smoke one or two cigars a day. Besides, it's fun watching friends try and figure out the safety. :D For the "disposible" torch, I've heard good things about the Tiger.

In my experience these are the only torches that consistently perform

Doc.

The longest lived torches I've ever had are the cheap ones I've gotten from these guys. Have to admit that two to three years seems about the limit. Good butane makes a big difference.

I've been thinking about a "nice" torch; maybe a Xikar with the lifetime warranty? Just thinking about it, at this point.....

The little Ronson $2.99 torches seem to be pretty formidable. I've had one for six months that has been dropped and thrown around quite a bit without a problem. I had originally planned to use it until I had the money for a nice one, but as resilient and effective as it is I see no need to replace it now that I can.

I have a collibri that is going on three years of regular use and haven't had any problems... Also have a zplus inserted zippo that is about the same age.

I have a Colibri that is 4 years old and going strong, and a Lotus that is about 1yr old and still kicking it.

I also have a Xikar that looks like I need to send in for service

I've got a triple flame Tiger brand. I've had it for two years and it's still going strong. I paid $14.99 for it.

You can get those torches from deal extreme for 1/3 of the price.

A good alternative, for table top torch are these:

BBY

LNT

You can usually steal a coupon from your wife and get these for real cheap.

Seen many of these in cigar bars/stores as well.

Good, cheap altetnative that last.

I've been using the crate and barrel version of the creme brule torch for over a year and it works like a champ, though the safety on it is a real pain.

In the past 5 years I've had 3 Prometheus, 1 Colibri, 2 Porsche, 3 generic Tri-Torch, and 1 S.T.Dupont EXTEND.
The 3 Promethes are Dead
The 2 Porsche are Dead
2 generic Tri-Torch are M.I.A.
All the others are working fine. Colibri (6 years), generic (5 years), S.T. (4 years)

the new Zippo blu 'I believe' has the usually Zippo lifetime warrantee, so if it breaks you get a free repair.
