Well a tornado warning has just been issued for Maricopa county where I live.
I'm from the Bay Area in CA so earthquakes are no biggie, but cyclonic clouds that swoop away cows and sh$t.......come on now.

Serious portion of this post now

What should I do to in even of any funnel cloud drama. The wife and kids are already on my nerves because of the loud thunder.

Never been in one, only earthquakes. Don't think those rules apply. Seems to me that I've heard you get down to the basement and stay near the walls; if the house comes down, your likelier to be in an open space instead of under the debris. :(

Best of luck buddy!!

(Geez, tornadoes in AZ, and I just saw on the news there were two in Brazil, of all places.) :0

No basement here. Wanna know what else really sucks about this....I can't even have a smoke cuz the wind is blowing like AVB's sig girls :p

The core of the storm passed right over my house over on 7th St. and 101. Crazy stuff. Got plenty of video from the swirling cloud and tons of hail. Looks like snow in the desert. I think in another life I was made to be a tornado chaser. It was so intense and I loved it!

Go to a room that has no windows if at all possible. Doubt that you have a basement, so, try to get to the safest possible room, cover yourself with a mattress to avoid flying stuff.

Yeah I was just watching that. We're on 60 and Ellsworth. Apache DUMPtion is getting the heaviest rain right now and it's moving this way. IF this isn't as bad as it can get I'm gonna have to slip some sleeping pills into the kids dinner

Picture of the storm from AZ. This was right over my house.

Power just came back on. Still raining hard but the warning has been cancelled

Hope it cleared up in your neck of the woods.

Glad you guys are ok.

Someday i'm gonna go take classes on meteorology. I like storms, or even better the half hour before them when you can feel and smell them coming in.

I was in the middle of one in 2003. I was in the only brick building on the block. All the surrounding buildings were destroyed. Myself and five other deputies hid under a table. Ninety four windows blew out in the building and nearly sucked us out the window.

The best place to get in in an interior room with no windows and hunker down under cover.

Yep, basement in a corner or in a closet is the best advice. Living in Nebraska, I'm smack dab in the middle of what is called "tornado alley" which is an hour glass shaped area from North Dakota to Texas where 90% of tornados strike. I had no clue that those things occured in Arizona. The weather is doing strange things these days, we are supposed to get 8-12 inches of snow here, I think we now have 3-4 already.

I think Arizona records one tornado a year. Recently one was spotted up in northern Arizona, west of Flagstaff. Yeah, strange weather going on around the world lately...maybe the end of the world. Are you prepared? :0
