Tried my first Padron today

Picked up a 6000 (I think that is the one) - about 5 1/2 x 50-52 - looks like a belicoso/torpedo shape. Dark wrapper, maduro I believe. I am still a noob, so I can't discribe all the flavors. The construction was prefect. One small vein running the length. The cigar was nice a firm. It clipped very nicely with my Xikar. Pre-light draw seemed a little tight, but was perfect once lit. It seemed a bit light bodied a first draw, but gained much flavor as I smoked it. It produced vast amounts of beautiful smoke. During the last half, it got a bit stronger and I swore I could taste black pepper. I smoked it to the point that I needed a roach clip to finish.

I will be buying a few more to finish my business trip and then order a box when I return home.

Anyone know of some reliable sources that have good prices?
 
First Padron! What a joyous occastion! I am sure you will be smoking manny more of those babies! There are a few places to get them cheap.

Go with Al (PuffStuff), guy is great to deal with. I became a Padron whore as well and have since bought 2 boxes of Padrons from Al. He'll take good care of you.

I have a feeling that I will soon be spending more on Padrons that I do on ISOMs. I will have to add the Aniversios and 26s to my 'yet to try' wishlist. Should be able to make them off this week, if the local shop have any.

What are you trying to do to the poor guy - he just had his first Padron and you're waving a '26 in his face? :laugh:

Padrons are terrific smokes and as many here have mentioned, Al is a great guy to do business with and has a proven track record. Before you slide into the depths of 64's and '26's, enjoy the regular line first (at least that's my recommendation). ;)
 
Tolije, my first Padron was also a 6000, and I loved it. I found it quite the same as you did.

I do have a '26 and 2 '64s resting in my humi. I considered one tonight after supper but after a steak slathered with coarse black pepper, I thought my mouth was still a bit numb from spice to appreciate it.

I will also chime in for Al (puffstuff). In spite of the fact I've only been a member at this board for a short time, I've done two very successful deals with him and he gave nothing but spectacular service.

Give the 2000 a try, great smaller Padron's if you don't have the time for a larger smoke. I have been hooked on Padron since my first one. Whenever I have the time for a larger smoke I go straight for my stash of 4000 maduro's.
