TV Help

I can't speak to Sharp's quality but that TV has all the new fangled features you could hope for at a great price. Did you check CNet?

edited to add:

That's the older model of this one. It seems to be a mixed bag.

Josh,

Abe's of Maine has it for $2,576 shipped

I HIGHLY recommend going an looking at them in the store before you buy. (This applies with any set).

With that said, the 42" Aquos has a killer picture (my buddy has one) but can't speak to the 52". My buddy has the new Sony LCD and it is sweet as well!

Hope this helps

Damn. THose reviews are not so hot. Now rethinking....

Reviews are a mixed bag. Only the people that have issues complain. You rarely see people that have had no issues saying so in review sites like that. Then you gotta figure a portion of those issues are because of videophiles that complain about things so minor that you'd never notice an issue and a part are because of the user in general just not being bright enough to figure things out...

Take 'em all with a grain of salt and make sure you have a good return policy just in case. :)

I have the 42" and love it. A friend has the 46" and he loves it!

The only thing that most LCD's don't do really well is regular analog imaging. Straight High Def is GREAT.

It's nice to know about Abe's - thanks!

First, have you considered your usage and location? Maybe a Plasma might be better for you. There are a number of on-line guides to help with that.

After that then you can decide on features, VS cost. You do want full 1080P on anything you buy so ignore anything that won't do that.

I worked in the audio/video market and the best full 1080p HDTV on the market is Sony's Bravia line hands down. Check them out, you can find them cheaper online. Sony Bravia

Recently helped my folks get updated to one of these bad boys, what a beautiful picture it is!

Didn't somebody go out and buy a HDTV the last time we had this discussion?

DId look at the Bravia, but IIRC, it was a tad higher than we wanted to go price-wise. The location seems to speak to the LCD based on what I've read.
I'm amazed at those other prices. We might need to look into them.
We've spent a decent amoutn of time looking at TVs, but I just can't get into the research on them....I think it might be more technical than I enjoy getting. I'd way rather study cigars, knives and watches.

Thanks for all of the info, everybody.

Hmm from what I understand Toshiba is supposed to have the highest resolution tv’s on the market atm.
