My grammar is awful, grammatical errors are abundant so read at your own risk.

It was two years ago, and I was working on a project directly under the Ft Lauderdale Airports West flight path. The project was building an on campus daycare facility for Broward Community College. I had gone to the Facilities Management Building to check on some RFI’s (Request For Information). When walking by the break room, the College Architect asked me to come in and see “the plane hit the World Trade Center”. When I walked into the break room I was expecting something like a Cessna had hit the building. By the time the magnitude of what had happened registered, I witnessed the second plane hit the north tower live on TV. It was devastating to see. It was as surreal then as it is today, two years later.

I went back to the jobsite and advised each trade foreman what I had seen. Most were caught by surprise, and some had heard something on the radio. Everyone keep working but stopped when new information was relayed on the radio. By now it was approximately 11am. The radio was announcing school closings, business closings, and airport closings. By 12 noon everyone knew something big had happened because plane after plane were overhead and landing at Ft Lauderdale airport. 747’s, DC-10, 727’s, etc. from every airline imaginable (Alitalia to UPS Cargo).

By 4pm the jobsite locked up. When I arrived home and turned on the tube, the collapse of the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon were the main topics. FLT#93 was still not defined. It was unbelievable. To think of all the innocent civilians that had died, and all of the firefighters, policemen & women that were missing or dead. To date, the most grief I have ever had.

In the following days, weeks, months, as more information about FLT #93 and the Hero’s onboard, was made available the grief changed. It became anger & fury. Then it changed again to patriotism. By that time it was clear, there are regular Joe’s that will step up to the plate & defended freedom. Those regular Joe’s had a rally call “LET’S ROLL!”

My life is forever changed as is yours. We will have to explain these tragic events to our children, and for many generations to come. Simple words and phrases have new meanings now, i.e. fireman, policeman, ground zero, let’s roll…

I can’t say anymore, even though I haven’t said enough. It’s midnight September 11th time to put the flag on the front porch. Hopefully you won’t forget your flag.

A toast to those that are no longer with us. May they never be forgotten.

Im from Sweden and i will never forget that day. As you i thougt a Cessna had crasched by mistake.

I was home sick (not homesick ;) ) and was by the computer and the tv was on showing a 24/7 newschannel... and i saw these planes crash one after they other. Awful. And when the towers collapse! Oh my...

I ahd called in sick that morning before all of this happened. Not because I was sick, so much as I was taking a "mental health day". Melly and I were laying in the bed listening to our favorite morning talk radio show and I was dozing on and off. Then we heard something about the plane crashing into the WTC.

Out of grim curiosity we got up and turned on the television to see what was happening - even if it was on television. I remember being kind of suprised to find it on a regular television channel. And then, just as Melly brought me something to drink a few minutes later, the second plane hit.

My blood turned to ice. We spent the rest of the day sitting in front of the television. I called work to see if they needed me but was told that the company was letting everyone go home for this day and that some of our own were in the buildings - nothing else was known.

During the day we made a couple of calls. Melly had a friend in NYC and we both knew of friends that had family and friends there. It was a very somber day. I remember sitting there going from grief to anger.

I remember the President's speech and I have never been prouder of a president than I was that day - and continue to be proud. It was a terrible day and I remember it too clearly like many others. May the memory of it never go away and god bless those fighting the war on terrorism.

I remember being in class teaching. The bell rang and some students in the hallway said a plane had hit the WTC. So we turn on the TV and we're watching what was happening and then... the second plane hit. Until then we all figured it was some weird accident. But when that second plane hit I knew our lives had changed forever. Needless to say I spent the day with my classes watching TV. This was History. It was a time to realize that sometimes our priorities are a little out of whack, and we need to figure out just what really is important in our lives.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all those lost on that day as well as their loved ones.

I was at work when there was word that a plane had hit the WTC. I logged onto to CNN (no tv in my cubicle) and kept hitting F5 to see what was new. I didn't see any of it Live as some did, but it was never the less devistating to me. I really didn't know anybody personally who was there, but I have met many who did. Joe's cousin Phil (gonna fire up one in his honor later ;) ), Tony had a number of personal friends that died there that day as well. But I think the one that hit hardest is one I only found out about yesterday.

My wife teaches Kibdergarten at our church, and one of her students (a darling little girl of 5) had drawn a very pretty picture and said it was for her parents. "My mommy will love it when she picks me up, and my Daddy will really love it when he gets back from Heaven"

My friends, that little girl's daddy died when those cowards turned our own passenger planes into Warheads.

I have to stop typing now because there are too many tears.

God Bless JoeM, Smokin Tone, That little girl and anyone else who lost loved ones in that attack. May there memories bring us comfort today and always.

I had taken the day off from work because I had forced our town to have a town wide referendum (opening the voting polls) on an item that had been brought before a town meeting. I had planned on spedning the day working on getting out the vote. The voting was not scheduled to start until noon that day so I was on my way to buy a new pair of shoes when I heard the announcement on the car radio. I immediately turned around and went home to watch the television coverage. The biggest shock was when the first tower collapsed, then the second. That’s when I realized the death tolls would be in the thousands. I live in Connecticut and know many people who knew people who were victims that day, it was horrible. I know its been said many times before but:

NYPD
FD NY

and the rest of the heros of that day.
