Upcoming movie review...

I just got back from seeing this movie. I was a little surprised at one of the actors in there. Sam Elliot. Not a bad movie. Saw the advertisements for Superman 3 and Fantastic 4 part 2. God I hate sequels usually. Nothing like regurgitated steaming pile of horse crap. It looks like they ended this movie for a sequel for sure. So expect another Ghost Rider 2 in the near future.

Is this Spiderman 3?? That was fast for Superman 2 from theater to DVD! :whistling:

Sad but true...Spiderman 3 is coming out. If I remember right its May.

Silver Surfer will be in the next FF4 !! Cool!

Yes, I'm a comic book geek.

I'm an ABSOLUTE comic book geek! Been collecting since I was 3 years old. I am absolutely pumped this year for the onslaught of Marvel characters to hit the silver screen. I'll be seeing Ghost Rider this Wednesday (after a few brews and cigars) and can't wait to see the next installment of the FF's movie "Coming of the Silver Surfer". The fact that the Surfer can fly through tangible objects looks like a nice little twist to his character. Thank God they got that character right (at least in the coming attractions) as far as the look. I didn't like the changed Raimi made to the Spiderman character as well as the Green Goblin in the first Spiderman film (and I'm a self proclaimed Raimi nut!). Of course, they struck gold by having Hayden-Church play the Sandman..... perfect typecasting!

Yeah, this year will most DEFINITELY be the year of Marvel at the movie house! Now, lets get an Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and (another) Hulk movie out soon, please?!?!?!?

Make Mine Marvel,
Darren

An Avengers movie would be fuggin' awesome! And I love Justice League, and I'm a total Batman freak (I even have the complete 1943 Batman movie serial collection on DVD). I think it would be neat if they would make crossover movies, ie: Christian Bale and the guy who plays Superman now, and do a Justice League with them, maybe Tobey Maguire/ Peter Parker visits the FF4...etc.

Think they may do a Venom spinoff? Since the black suit from the Secret Wars makes an appearance in Spiderman 3.

GR movie has re-kindled my interest in the GR books, and I see that Garth Ennis (Preacher, Punisher series) did a GR mini-series last year called Road to Damnation, and he has a new one out this month called Ghost Rider: Trail of Tears that has him on horseback that looks awesome. And there is a new monthly GR Returns written by Daniel Way, who is also writing Wolverine: Origins (which is pretty good too).

Now, where did I put my pocket protector? ???

I'd like to see a live action Justice League movie. Hell, I would like to see a Wonder Woman movie. Joss Whedon was originally slated to make one, but I think those plans have been halted. Go figure.

Nuff said! Bring on the foibles of Paste Pot Pete (aka The Trapster). Considering he's been battling heroes since the glorious Silver age (including the Torch in those early Strange Tales), Daredevil, the FF (when he was with the Frightful Four), hell I think even Ghost Rider!

Keeper of the Flame!

---> I'm sure they will be itching to spin that off, as are the Toy Biz companies that make action figures! Though I'd like to see how they are going to handle the black suit saga; I liked the fact that it was due to a futuristic computer that this suit was formed. Not sure how Raimi and company will get around that issue.

I'm scurrying to finish collecting the Marvel Spotlight and first series of Ghost rider (earlier issues) before the prices sky rocket at this years conventions and on eBay!!!

We just watched Ghost Rider! I really liked it! Much better than say Daredevil and Fantastic 4, but not as good of course as X-Men....If you are expecting Nicholas Cage to tank, he doesnt....Good flick!! And the pre-views were really good!!

Melly

Thanks Melly, I may just go and see it!!

Personally this movie made me feel about like Fantastic 4, I just didn't care about it. Neither one really had any heart, no soul. When I was a kid reading comics they pulled me in and I cared about the characters. I generally don't with most comic movies. The Spider-man franchise blows as did the first two X-men movies. I am still frankly amazed that people hated Daredevil so much as that was one that held the heart of the story pretty good. It didn't follow the plot great mind you but it kept the soul. It didn'tHollywoodize it like the others, but to each their own I guess.

I absolutely agree with you about character analysis and development. Thats where I sour when it comes to the Spiderman franchise. Of course, trying to jam nearly 122 issues into the first movie HAD to have been tough for Raimi. Plus, I can do without seeing Pumpkin Head Kirstin Dunst as Mary Jane Watson.

With the comics, I'm VERY particular on stories and staying true to the character in the books versus making them something they aren't in the movies. The Hulk is one instance of this, though I thought that movie was the best from the Marvel cadre of heroes, so far. That story, the way it was directed by Lee, was stupendous. I think as characters on paper, there is so much more that can be brought about their personalities that the movies have to be abridge in order for more CGI, action scenes, love scenes, whatever sells a movie to the audiences.

I think most critics talk out of their ass. Just because THEY don't like it doesn't mean its not a good movie. Thus I don't listen to people either if a movie sucks or its good. I judge it on my own merits by watching it.

That's why movie review aggregator sites like RottenTomatoes.com are so useful. If one critic pans a movie, who cares, but if the majority of them are panning the film, that's a pretty good indication that the movie sucks.

In this case, Ghost Rider has gotten lousy reviews and most of the reviews from people who have seen it seem to echo that. Most people can really say is "it wasn't bad" heh :)
