...cigarettes, yesterday. With me spending more and more on cigars and rising cost of cigarettes, I decided to give it up. I spent $140 yesterday morning on buying steps 1, 2 and 3 of Nicoderm CQ and am pleasantly surprised with how well I'm doing! I had my last cigarette at 1:30pm yesterday and haven't had one since. I was concerned with this morning, because I tend to smoke a lot the first couple of hours I'm awake. No problem at all.

Wish me luck!

I hope you're not wearing patches while smoking cigars.
Rut-Roh Shaggy.........yeah, I am. I had one yesterday afternoon. Could this be bad for me? It said not to smoke while wearing, so I figured that meant not to smoke/inhale cigarettes. I do not inhale my cigars, so I guess how would that be any different than me being in a cigar bar with the patch on?

Depending on the cigar, there can be a lot of nicotine going into your system.

Personally, I'd say quit nicotine first. Then see where you're at.

Don't wear them all at once ;)

Good luck on your endeavor, it sounds like it's going pretty well so far!
LOL, I don't have them all on at once! If things continue going as well as they are, I may have to take back one of the steps!

Thank you for your advice. I'm going to look into this further when I get home tonight.

I would wait till your done with the patches before smoking cigars. With any of the patches more so the higher dosed one taking in more nicotine can be dangerous.

Well, my 'step 1' patches ARE highly dosed, so I guess I will refrain from smoking cigars until I'm done with the patches. Thanks!

Hopefully I'll have kicked my smoking habit by 5:30pm today, so that I can enjoy a good Diamond Crown this evening! Doubt it, though... :(

I stopped smoking cigs about 16 years ago and went at it the same way. I don't think I could have done it without the patches but I stopped after #2 and haven't had one since. You know as well as I do that 95% of it is in your mind!

Good luck and stay with it!

Nice to have goals. I went cold turkey on July 10th 2001 after 32 years. I could smoke a pack right now and not even cough so I really believe you'll never kick the habit just put it under control but it ain't gonna happen this week.

I agree that most of it is in your head and/or mental. It doesn't help that EVERYONE in my office smokes, but it honestly hasn't bothered me yet.

Hey Jeffrey!
Good for you man, I have quit cigarette a while back...
I did not use the patches but ecigarettes instead, now I hope that those stickers are going to help you kick the habit, if not give those ecig a go =)
Worked very well for me, after a few week of them actual cigarette made me sick and wanna throw up =)

Good luck to you

Thank you for the kind words! I have a friend that tried the ecigarettes and she didn't have much luck with them. The patch is working EXCELLENT on me. ABSOLUTELY no cravings whatsoever. This is all coming from a guy that smoked at least once an hour, a pack/day.

I wish I could feel this way WITHOUT the patch, but I know I'll eventually be there. It really sucks not being able to enjoy a cigar for the time being...

I tried all of that junk myself, and like AVB, the only thing that did it was to go cold turkey after smoking for thirteen years. Took me about two weeks to get over the hump. I kept myself really busy during that time. Mostly cigs smell nasty to me now, but once in awhile I catch a whiff and I can feel that familiar tugging in my chest fifteen years later.

I'm a firm believer that you need to get over the addiction before moving to cigars.
