Anyone else watch American Idol last night and were you as disappointed as I was? I am still scratching my head...

Mel, I am going to risk losing my balls here, but I have been watching every week this year. Adam lambert is the best everyone knows he is and I personally believe that him coming in second has done him more good than if he would have won. Now he can write his own stuff and go in which ever music direction he wants to go. If he had won, he be singing idol written trash such as the worst song i have ever heard "no boundaries". Kris winning idol will help his career big time, in hindsight Adam did not need idol, idol needed Adam this year. So over all I am very happy Adam got second, he will be able to sing and write music and focus on his artistic direction.

I'm not totally shocked. Kris is good...Really Good! I don't think the American public was ready for an eye liner wearing male idol. It's a family show after all, and if Adam took it after David Cook grabbing the title last year, it would have started AI heading in a direction that it was never probably meant to take in the original scheme of things. Adam was my favorite hands down, but I could never deny Kris' talent. It was just too close to call between the two. For me...Adam holding his own with KISS was absolutely phenomenal!!!
In hind site...the only thing I found myself thinking through the last several weeks of the competition was, what would have happened for Adam if he had never gotten the exposure his has with AI? Club band maybe getting some decent gigs? The fact that the guy isn't signed to a label already is mind boggling. Chris Daughtry has done very well for himself and his band. Dave Cook...good, but I don't think he'll make it as big as Chris. Adam going to end up a legend. America has their American Pie Idol in Kris, whom I don't think anybody can argue is head and shoulder above anything that Idol has created up until now.

And you are right...I guess cause I wanted the "best" man to win, I was disappointed, but yeah, Adam never needed Idol. How amazing was he with KISS?? He needs to make a rock album. And I will TOTALLY agree that No Boundaries was the worst thing I have EVER heard. It's just sour apples I guess, because Kris just wasn't the better singer.
 
I watched 'em all and I'm only disappointed that the show was a popularity contest. Yes, I know that's part of it, but it is really a shame that someone with so much more talent doesn't win. I didn't mind Kris, but he has no range whatsoever . . . he can't even sing the AI song with any emotion. IMHO, he shouldn't have made it past the final five.

I do agree that Adam is probably better off by not winning. He can go whatever direction he wants now and I'm sure he will be picked up and do well. I don't necessarily like his lifestyle and look, but the kid can really sing.
 
That was a freakin' awesome show! Lionel, Queen, Kiss, freakin' Rod Stewart? Heck yeah! Even had Steve Martin playin the banjo. That bikini scene was priceless! The wife and I loved the whole show, was great!

We were really surprised when Kris won, but they'll both hopefully do well in the future.
 
I've always wondered who watched that show......so now I know and I'll be keeping a close eye on all of you. :whistling:
 
I watched it every week this season and the world came to an end when Danny got voted off. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Adam was kind of a one trick pony. I'm a rock/metal fan to the bone, but I thought all his songs sounded the same to me. I think Kris was the better of the two.

I felt the same way. Adam knew how to do the "rock scream" and little else. I did like the "Mad World" rendition he does. He would make it huge on Broadway but I don't see him doing that well commercially.

Chris is ok in a folksy kinda way.

Overall the show was great with the guests,etc.

Kara stole the show with her singing and the bikini thing. She looked fantastic.

Kara was SO good in the bikini girl thing...and in my opinion was SOOO much better. I do not think Adam was a one trick pony at all from seeing the diversity of all his performances...Mad World, Ring of Fire, Black or White, Whole Lotta Love...I do think he will get more popular faster and to a bigger degree than Kris...I am not rushing off to buy Kris' album and I thought that 2 months ago...before he decided to try and actually go for the gold so to speak.
