I paid 850 for the box, so told my buddy he could have 5 for 285, he's trying to convince the wife lol (if she says no, I'll give him one) got a box of viaje from 2014 coming too, so need to fund that purchase. Realistically I will probably never smoke 15 of the opus, special occasion stick for sure

Site that I've bought from a few times before, sent out an email says they had a "very limited amount", I was lucky enough and quick enough to grab one

Thanks. We put in dues then splurge. It's easier than shelling out fundage on the fly for this level of cigar for me. It's exciting when it's time to pull the trigger though. Well for me anyway. It's almost as nice as the package I got from @jfields. It was a good mail haul week for sure.

Well, it's not a cigar, but it will be my new humidor. My little 8 bottle sized one quit for good and been on the lookout for another.

Jumped online tonight and the first thing that popped up was this beauty - $40 - I shit you not!



(think the missus will notice the difference?)



No interior odors - they said it's a few years old and they aired it outside before putting their wine in it. (I'm not a wine person - but I can relate).

Any chance someone can identify the wood the shelves are made out of?




Dang, they are beautiful. Is there a way to seal offensive-to-cigars wood to make them usable?

I soaked a bunch of old boxes in distilled water and the shelves from the other one to start seasoning it some. I realize I'll have to do it again once the shelving situation is sorted out.

Any other advice is appreciated.

Looks like Beech wood to me but I’m no expert

Does it smell as it is right now? You might dampen a little spot and see if that smells. I'd be worried that any sealer would impart more taste/odor to cigars than a non-offensive wood would.

You're a handy guy, you could replicate the shelves from Spanish Cedar, but there goes the $40 part...
