Usually leave it on. Sometimes during the smoke a wrapper will come loose and become a nuisance. :angry2:
The band will hold it in place rather than trying to lick it or reglue it.

I always take them off. If you leave it on in Europe you're considered a snob in some parts, others it's just customary to remove the band. Personally I feel it gets in the way. When smoking a cigar, I don't want anything to get in the way. The band seems to get in the way, especially since it's usually smooth, can cause you to lose grip of your cigar and drop it. Not good.

If I may make a suggestion, I think it is easier to find an abbreviation if you had them justified to the left. Going down alphabetically, you can easier spot your letters. TTFN

Man is she smoooookin. Anyways always just leave the band until it gets in the way. with 64s in particular I usually like to burn my fingers so it goes.

In my opinion, removing the band tears a lot of wrappers so I always leave it on. I do however, during my frequent travels to Europe, remove the bands immediately so that I do not offend any of the locals who so adamantly support our country and troops that protect their sorry asses every day. :angry:

Band off is the clear winner.

Handling it while it is not lit makes it easier.

Once off, the cigar handles so much better. Safer grip, better feel of the wrapper. A sensuous experience! :thumbs:

I noticed in the movie "Titanic"......the band stayed on right until the boat sank!

I usually see if it will come off using the sliding method, otherwise I wait until it warms up a bit and softens the glue.

I don't think it's rude to leave it on though, it's nice to see what others are smoking, it's a good conversation starter.

Great comments all around. I would have to say that I too try and take the band off early. If it's difficult due to the adhesive substance, then I wait for the heat to loosen it as Puff first alluded to. What drives me nuts are the double-banded cigars, or the MX2, which is in particular, annoying to me. I also don't like how the Fuentes are sheathed.
