What coffee did you drink today?

That one, in the picture is perfect for 2 Americanos, but way too big for a single cup for me, i just bought a smaller one for my weekday travel to the office coffee

My wife loves her moka pot which she bought as a gift for me. It’s too fussy for me. French press, pour over, cold brew and Nespresso are my regulars.

I've tried to enjoy my Moka Pot, but I just can't. I may be doing it wrong, but it always tastes burnt to me. Pour over in my Chemex, French Preess and Nespresso are my go tos. My wife likes the Keurig single serves............but blah, not for me. If I do have to accompany my wife/daughters to Starbucks do they can get their stupid foo foo drinks, I'll either get a Nitro cold brew or black coffee.

I do want to jump in on Espresso and thought about the manual brewers, just haven't done it yet.

There are lots of little things that go into making a good Moka. the main points for me are:
1. Use the right grind - between espresso and drip works best for me
2. Fill the basket and the chamber fully, they should be made for each other
3. Level the grounds, do not tamp/pack
4. Heat slow, very slow and right when it starts to brew, pull it from the heat for 10 seconds or so (think pre-soak for espresso) then place back on the LOW heat
5. Remove from the heat as soon as it starts to sputter.

Also, you can try adding an AeroPress filter between the grounds and the screen to help with sludge and oils

just some thoughts

That very well could and I guarantee is my problem. I don't do it on low and that's why I've been burning it.

Now I have a weekend project, thanks Tim @MX

Watch the flow, nice and steady...

Unlike the unmitigated disaster I just created

My new smaller Moka was delivered, it had a pressure release valve on the stem as well, adds a bit of back pressure... Or so I thought... Glad my wife was in the shower

If I start Espresso at home, it would be a bad rabbit hole for me lolol! With my luck, I'd end up having a La Marzocco GS3 delivered... lolol

Hahahaha! Well I can honestly not always identify those types of specifics - for a lot of times it is more general like fruit-forward or stonefruit, but I do find some pretty unique flavor characteristics, especially with the lighter roasts.

Lighter (blonde) roasts, *always* seem to taste like vegetable soup to me, no matter the brand.
