What do you guys use to Download Music.

I'm with Moki, I don't steal music either.

I get my stuff from a site called www.allofmp3.com. It's based out of Russia, and most songs are only about 15 cents each, and they're high quality. If I don't do that, I'll buy cd's off of Amazon.

at 15c each, are the artists getting anything? Sounds very fishy to me.

Read the legal section of that site. There is a specific section where they deal with Americans using their site, although it really makes no sense to me because I am not familiar with copyright law.

Kind of like a torrent tracker that I use. It is based out of Sweden, and according to Swedish law, what it is doing is perfectly legal.

I've used it and liked it, but I would be surprised if it's really legal. What I've read seems to say that the RIAA has attempted many lawsuits but can't take any legal action because it's in Russia.

I don't think it's any more legal than P2P software or torrent apps.

I don't download much music anymore, just a few gigs of porn. :p

Based in Russia? Your 15c per song is going right into the pocket of whatever Russian kid is running that site. C'mon Rod, you can't believe this is legally set up to support the artists do you?

"Run by the Moscow company MediaServices, Allofmp3 has an estimated revenue of $30 million a year.[sup][1][/sup] According to the IFPI and various other label representatives the company has so far failed to transfer money to any (western) label. According to the FAQ AllOfMp3 has posted, they are currently sending voluntary additional payments directly to artists, in addition to the collective license fees they pay. However, labels and artists that contacted Allofmp3.com have declared they received no payments at all"

Isn't discussing on-line music "sources" the same as discussing Cuban cigar "sources". You hear all the time on the news about somebody being arrested or being invesigated for downloading music. We all know where to get it... so if you do get caught you are on your own. No need to discuss it.

Not sure if it's the same, but if I'm forced to buy something in Russia, it's usually through www.gomusic.ru
Same 15 cents per song and 10% off if you buy the whole album. You do have to buy in with a minimum of $20US however, which isn't too bad because you don't have to spend it all at once.

Otherwise, I prefer BearShare to Limewire. Kazaa from what I heard gave it's member list to the RIAA so bad news to those who told the truth when they registered

Otherwise a great source is IRC - Undernet - #mp3traderz
