We went out the other night to a BBQ joint in Myrtle Beach, Had a Blanton's old fashion that was on point. They use the luxardo cherry a must for a counter point on an old fashion.
Have you ever had one straight out of the jar? Holy hell those things are sweet.

Soooooo good. I don’t order old fashioneds from bars if I don’t see luxardos. Basically has to be a bar I see good whiskey at or it’s gunna be a crappy old fashioned

During the holiday season definitely check out Trader Joe’s. I love me some luxardos but Trader Joe’s sells their own brand that are damn close and about 1/4 of the price.

Vodka Gimlet. My go to and it’s probably going to kill me some day. But today it’s only enough for one drink so I might have to back it up with some Jefferson’s ocean. But that’s not exactly a mixed drink.

Nothing like a chilled vodka gimlet on a hot day!

Please share your recipe Corey.... That looks amazing & love the Tiki Tumbler! 😍
Yeah I collect tiki mugs a bit. Have a few. My dad has like 100. His whole back yard is a tropical island with 2 story tall Moai 🗿 and everything. Any way they are kind of a pain to make because there’s lots of ingredients but that are damn good. This is for a double size to fill a nice size tiki mug

12oz Crushed Ice in shaker (not critical on exact amount)
1.5 oz lime juice fresh
1oz Orange curaçao ( don’t use blue)
1oz Orgeat
1/2oz double simple syrup
4oz dark rum. Best I’ve used is denezin but if you can’t find that meyers works just fine

Shake then pour into large glass. Top with half the lime to make an island and take a sprig of mint and smack it all around the glass then place next to island to make it look like a palm tree!!!

Nope. Just enjoy tiki drinks. It’s too hard to keep the ingredients around for most of them but easy to keep a mint plant and some limes around for a maitai. Other drinks you need lots of tropical fruits and what not so they get a little more difficult.

Damn, a proper Mai Tai. That’s basically the original 1944 Mai Tai recipe from Victor Bergeron (“Trader Vic”):

2 oz 17yr J. Wray & Nephew Rum
1/2 oz orange curacao
1/2 oz orgeat syrup
1/4 oz rock candy syrup
juice from one lime.

My goto:

2 oz Stolen Overproof (or Hampden 8yr)
1 oz Rum Fire
1 oz Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao
1 oz Libre Orgeat Syrup
1 oz lime juice

I don’t add any simple syrup (the orgeat has enough sugar imo), and the curaçao I like because its the least sweet that I’ve found.

Yeah a few years ago I got the recipe off some dude on YouTube trying to recreate the exact trader Vic’s one and I’ve always used it. A lot of the ingredients don’t exist any more he used so he was trying to make it exact and make homemade Orgeat and stuff. I just use the basic stuff you can get at a BevMo or something
