The 3 of the 4 main allies of the US left Vietnam. Australia, Nrw Zealand and Thailand all were gone by mid year. The US started the year with 156,00 troop snd after the last combat ground forces left in August was gdwn to 39,00 and then 26,000 by the end of the year. By that time South Korea had more troops in Vietnam then the US. The North started their biggest invasion in March causing the US to ramp up and start bombing at the highest level of the war, AFVN lost over half of the network re-trans station while other fell into disrepair after being turned over to the South. The only real presence was still in Siagon and surrounding areas. By September the south managed to recapture over 80% of what they had lost but the AFVN network was not rebuilt.
With the war winding down the protest movement and their songs also slowed. Since the draft was only calling up a few thousand a month insteas of 30,000 a month it wasn't as big a news story.
Pretty much the only major anti-was song of the year was "Happy Christmas (War Is Over)" by John Lennon
