What would be useful at CP?

We can do the poker idea, however there is no software available. In other words, I can't find any poker software available that we can install on our own server. We have to sign up with a company and have it co-hosted. There is a monthly fee for that. Do you guys mind paying a few bucks a month for this?

5 chair or 10 chair? How many tables do we need? Throw out some figures and I'll see what it will cost to do...
 
I wouldn't mind chipping in, that would save the hassels in looking for each others tables!!

What company are you looking at?

We could also all just sign up on pokerstars and do private games/tournys there.
 
We should have a discussion area strictly dedicated to cigar porn or maybe just regular porn?
 
I wouldn't mind some kind of cigar rating's list for CP'ers. I know a lot of the info are in the threads, but it's hard to find sometimes. I know other forums have the review/ratings section, but I think the CPers have singular tastes.

From the interest I've seen here regarding poker I think a 10-person table at least. Or two 5-person tables. Two 10-person tables would be ideal.

Would it be possible to co-host only on Friday and Saturday nights, or would it have to be 7 days a week?

IMHO, I think this would draw a lot of new folks, many from other cigar boards, so it may be a case of "be careful what you wish for".

I love the idea of a poker room here. I think 2 10-person tables would be perfect. More than willing to pay a monthly fee if you are able to pull this off. :thumbs:

The idea of a cigar pool for CP members is good too....

Looks like we really have a lot of interest in a CP Poker room. 2 10 seat tables to start sounds good. We can always add more if need be. Actually, we can start with just 1 and add more if needed.

As long as you guys don't mind paying something like $5/month for access. We can setup Poker night, and post a schedule of events. I was able to test out the service and the graphics are very nice. Great layout and design. Not skimpy at all.

We can even create a new forum category for the poker players... A "host" can post a time and we can have members sign up. Kind of how a pass works. Does this sound good?

Concur - What about other games? If you open a forum to this for discussion and threads, would (could) it be all card games or just poker. I've been playing Pinochle, Euchre, spades for decades.... but I've never learned poker. Other High Interest games might include blackjack and such. Maybe just a "Games" Subforum to the Lobby, or under General Discussion with the Lobby. We could incorporate discussion on pool, darts and other non-card games as well.

I like the link to chat idea. Maybe a direct link to cigarphotos.com would be nice too. I've noticed nobody posts comments on pictures much there, so maybe a pictures / picture comments forum.

The old skin had the black dot on a thread you had replied in, and I really miss that. I've also seen other forums that, when you hover over the thread icon, will tell you how many total posts in that thread you have made.

Also, if other forums are an option, I'd be interested in a literature forum. Maybe like CP Saloon, with fiction and non-fiction sub forums.

Well since we're at it, at another board I frequent they have a reputation system. I've seen it called karma or reputation points. basically you get a certain number for joining, and a certain trivial amount for posting, and some for longevity. You can also give out reputation points to other members, either positive or negative. You have to spread it around and you can only give so much per day, but that's the source of most of the points.

Your "reputation" is displayed under your username like the join date, user number, etc.
 
Numeric karma... LOL. Sounds too much like CW's trader ratings to me. I for one like the way things are run in that regard as is.

EDIT - Slight spelling error, even happens to me on occasion. :rolleyes:

I've organized a few tourneys before. If you'd like my advice or services, let me know. I've got some pretty good ideas on the matter.

Going through cigarpoker.com seems unnecessary.
