I saw this appetizer on social media from a Spanish chef, and had to give it a whirl (after translating it). I never would have imagined bringing these ingredients together, but I decided to give it a whirl. The results were delicious!

Metis Tartar with Pear and Anchovy

I couldn't find metis, a product of Spain, born of natural cross-pollination by bees between apricot and plum blooms, so I used the ripest plumbs I could find. Cucumber boats, cream cheese, plumbs, and fresh anchovies.

Incredibly delicious!

I got inspired by a short video clip that led to this dish. My wife works at a local plant nursery, and it was a hot day today. I thought a cold dinner would be fitting, so I welcomed her home with a blackberry smash cocktail.

For dinner I made a watermelon carpaccio and cold green beans with lemon. It was really fun and surprisingly tasty.

Chilled watermelon slices, Maldon salt, avocado, smoked salmon, shrimp, goat cheese, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, and basil. Served with Prosecco.
